MS Strong, Made strong 🧡🧡🧡
"In 2018, as a single mom navigating a demanding work program and a four-month work detail in Atlanta, my life took an unexpected turn. A week before the detail ended, I woke up with numbness on the left side of my face. At first, I ignored it, but when the feeling didn’t return, I went to the emergency room. Tests revealed three active brain lesions and trigeminal neuralgia, leading to my diagnosis of Relapse Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) two months later. That moment marked the beginning of a journey filled with challenges, growth, and transformation.
Living with MS has been a blessing in disguise. It pushed me to reassess my life and make significant changes, including focusing on my health through diet, exercise, and stress management. Since completing Lemtrada treatment in 2021 and 2022, I’ve had very few flare-ups. I owe a lot to my neurologist, whose guidance has been invaluable, and my incredible support system of family and friends who remind me daily that I’m not alone.
MS has changed my perspective on life in ways I never imagined. It’s taught me to find joy in small victories and cherish each day, no matter how unpredictable. The experience has reinforced the importance of maintaining a positive outlook and surrounding myself with supportive, understanding people.
For anyone newly diagnosed, my advice is to embrace the journey and focus on the strength within you. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but remember, you are not alone. Build a support system, seek out trusted healthcare professionals, and prioritize self-care. Each day is a new opportunity to discover your resilience and find moments of joy. Together, we can face the challenges of MS with courage and community.
Through my journey, I’ve learned that life with MS is not defined by the challenges we face but by the strength and support we cultivate along the way."
