How do you maintain a sense of coziness in a great room?

The architecture set the tone here: a soaring vaulted ceiling, warm timber trusses, and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace that gives the entire space its sense of permanence.

Plenty of presence, but even more warmth.

We wanted the furnishings to soften that scale without competing with it. Layered neutrals keep the room quiet and comfortable, while olive velvet, warm wood, natural textures, and sculptural accents pull from the landscape beyond the windows. The fireside chair and ottoman create a smaller moment within the larger room.

It’s really a place to settle in while still feeling connected to everything around it.

That’s balance we love most: dramatic architecture paired with spaces that feel intimate enough for everyday living.

When Amy and Joel Brodsky dreamed up their Lake Beulah home, they started with the one thing that sets the whole tone: color. Amy fell for a perfect baby blue for the kitchen island, and every space flowed from there — soft neutrals, organic materials, and layers of texture that make this three-story, 16-bed lake house feel like an exhale.

From cathedral ceilings that draw your eye up to where the lake meets the sky, to a lower level built purely for fun (golf simulator and all), this was a labor of love for our whole team.

This primary suite started with a feeling, not a floor plan.

The clients wanted to walk into their bedroom and feel like everything else could wait. Avid readers, they wanted a spot to settle in with a book, somewhere that felt cozy and quiet but still part of the room, not an afterthought.

A deceptively simple ask! We considered it all: how the ceiling moves, where the light lands, what they would reach towards each morning.

The result? We gave them vaulted beams and a moody fireplace for warmth and scale. A sitting area that earns its value by actually being used. A sage velvet headboard that feels handsome and yet so soft and welcoming. And a dressing room designed for an unhurried morning.

What we love here? The beauty holds up to real life.

Framed from the doorway, it seems to be beckoning you in for rest, calm, respite; it’s where the day begins, and where it winds down.

The bed was designed to feel this way at every layer: a tailored upholstered frame in a muted sage, softened by washed linen, subtle pattern, and leading with comfort.
