Interesting Memphis item found in booth 823…this is a promotional poster for Voodoo Village which is a smooth jazz and funk supergroup with roots in Memphis, Tennessee. The group features seasoned musicians and producers like Niko Lyras, Steve Potts, Pat Register, and Dave Smith. Members have recorded or toured with legendary artists including B.B. King, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Etta James, and Michael McDonald.Poster promotes their debut album Funk Soup, which includes guest appearances by Wendy Moten and the Memphis Horns, plus tracks like "Memphis Underground" and "Garment District". It is signed by Uncle Pat, Pat Register. Voodoo Village is also a private family compound in South Memphis properly named St. Paul's Spiritual Temple (or St. Peter's Spiritual Temple). Built in the 1950s by spiritual leader Washington "Wash/Chief" Harris, the site is famous for its folk art, handmade shrines, and unique blend of Christian and Masonic symbolism. By the 1960s, outsiders began calling the area "Voodoo Village," sparking decades of local ghost stories and myths.
