We’ve noticed lots of new faces around here lately, so first—welcome 💙 We’re really glad you’re here.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done an introduction, and funny enough, I learned today is National Alicia Day 😆 Seems like fate is telling me it’s time to properly introduce myself.
Hi, I’m Alicia—the dreamer, doer, mover, shaker, rearranger, creator, and occasional chaos coordinator behind The Blu Door.
If you’re new here, The Blu Door is a marketplace for local makers—home to 50+ incredibly talented artisans, creators, and small businesses. What makes it even more special is where we call home: my late grandfather’s motorcycle repair shop, Shorty’s Cycle. We kept the Shorty blue door color alive as a way to honor him, and every day that little blue door reminds me where we came from. 💙
We opened in August 2023, built with a whole lot of grit, vision, family teamwork, and probably a little caffeine-fueled chaos.
A little about me:
🐓 I’m happiest hanging out with our chickens (almost 50 of them 😅)
🌌 You’ll usually find me wandering outside, chasing sunsets, stargazing, or getting lost among wildflowers 🌼
🦇 My favorite animal is a bat
🐾 We also have two dogs that keep life interesting
💜🖤 Purple and black are my favorite colors
🎶 My playlist is all over the place—alternative rock, folk, pop, rap…if it’s good, I’m listening.
👨👩👧👦 My favorite place in the world is home with my husband and kids—adventuring, exploring, and making memories together.
Before The Blu Door, I owned Alexander Alivia Design Co. These days, my husband and I just genuinely love making things together. Creating, building, and dreaming up new ideas is kind of our thing. We’re currently working on a new little side hustle together, and honestly, some of our best memories are made in the middle of a project.
One thing I’ve learned? Life is messy, beautiful, wild, and worth chasing. I was diagnosed with adult ADHD just before opening The Blu Door—which explains a lot—and it’s been quite the ride, but we’re figuring it out one day at a time.
