This will be our LAST CLASS before summer break and then out class schedule will resume in the fall. We’ll be hosting a Helix Knitting class taught by the wonderful in June here in the store from 11:30 to 1:30 on June 20th.

Helix knitting is a great technique to get joblessness stripes and seamless garter stitch in the round.

There is homework for this class that you’ll receive in an email from us after you’ve signed up 😁

Supplies you’ll need: 50g/150 yards worsted weight yarn in each of 3 colors (light, medium, dark). 16” circular needles in US6 and US 8. One stitch marker to note beginning of round.

Legacy Worsted is a 100% Non-Superwash Shaniko Wool, spun and dyes here in the US. The wool is sourced from family owed ranches and provides a soft against the skin feel while still having enough texture for steeking and colorwork.

This month’s Hue of the Moment from is Mad About You! This month’s colorway is an exciting mix of electric blues, moody violets, and 90’s-era energy, inspired by Belinda, Helen.

We have Mad About You in Pashmina, TML, and Twist Light available in store and on our website,and of course the pattern for the Somewhere Between Scarf pattern that can be made with just one skein of Pashmina.

Love the Kelbourn Woolens Year of DK Hats but don’t knit? No worries, we think that the Trailing Leaves Hat pattern by is a great alternative!

Both patterns call for DK weight yarn and similar yardage (depending on the size) so Germantown DK is a great option for either pattern. The Trailing Leaves pattern features a lovely organic cable crochet motif and also has a matching fingerless gloves pattern available if you wanted to make a matching set.

The May Year of DK Hats kits from are here! This month’s pattern is the Cordelia by , inspired by Chicago architecture and the art deco style, these kits will be available at FYS in the colors Lilac and Old Blue.

The official 2026 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern is here! The ‘Birsie Beanny’ has been exclusively designed by Helen Robertson as the SWW Patron for 2026.

The Birsie Beanny was designed and is presented in four distinct colourways using yarn from four distinct Shetland Wool Companies, each reflecting Helen’s interests and inspirations.

Our kit is the Sea Anemone version seen in the first picture, drawing on the vivid colors of marine life.

To make the other versions using Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift, use the following colors:

Heddery Hills version reflects the shifting colors of Shetland’s landscape throughout the seasons. Celtic (790) - 2 balls, Sorbet (570) - 2 balls, Mimosa (400) - 1 ball, Lemon (350) - 1 ball.

Nostalgia looks back to a peerie gansey Helen wore as a child, threading memory and tradition through the design. Shetland Black (101) - 2 balls, Sholmit (103) - 2 balls, Natural White (104) - 1 ball, Mogit (107) - 1 ball.

The 2026 hat design will be announced on April 22nd and the 2025 design will no longer be available. We’re so excited for the new design but want to make sure you get hands on last year’s pattern or one of our kits before we bit it fair well.

the Aal Ower Toorie was designed by Guild member, Rachel Hunter, and takes inspiration from a traditional vintage allover pattern from the 1930s - blending historical motifs with a contemporary aesthetic.

The Aal Ower Toorie is designed in three distinctive colorways using local Shetland yarn. Knit with Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift, our kit makes up colorway 1 and emulates vintage Shetland colors. The kit includes eight balls of Spindrift (100% Real Shetland Wool, 2-ply, 25 grams / 115 yards); 1 each Moorit (108), Eesit (105), Sapphire (676), Daffodil (390), Madder (587), Natural White (104), Moss (147), and Nutmeg (1200).
