We’re heading Down Under for this week’s Wildcard Wednesday 🇦🇺🪨

Andamooka Opal comes from the Andamooka opal fields of South Australia, where opal was discovered in the 1930s. The area went on to become one of Australia’s famous opal-producing regions—and the material coming out of there can be seriously wild.

One of the coolest things about Andamooka is how much variety it can have. You’ll find everything from lighter matrix material to darker host rock, with flashes of blue, green, purple, orange, red and everything in between. 🌈🔥

Andamooka is also especially well known for its matrix opal. Because some of the natural material can be pale or porous, a traditional darkening treatment has often been used to deepen the surrounding matrix and make that colorful opal play absolutely POP. 👀✨

Every piece has its own personality—which is exactly the kind of weird, beautiful material us Rock Goblins live for. 😂🖤

We’re shining the spotlight on Fred Peralta a dear friend of our family and one seriously talented silversmith. 🖤

Over the years, Fred has taken quite a few stones cut here at JustCabs and turned them into incredible finished pieces — and seeing where our cabs end up will never get old.

From bold cuffs and intricate silverwork to those gorgeous little turquoise hearts, every piece has its own personality. Fred has a way of building the silverwork around the stone instead of letting one overpower the other, and we absolutely love seeing what he comes up with. 🔥

One of the coolest parts of what we do isn't just cutting the stone — it's getting to see another artist take it from there and make it into something completely their own.
