In all the hubbub of the crawl we never got to spotlight one of our newer arrivals! ✨

Mota by is 100% Spanish Wool — 50% Manchega & 50% Merino. This yarn was developed with the goal of supporting local Spanish ranchers by using sheep breeds native to Spain, with the Manchega sheep’s wool usually deemed waste-wool as these sheep typically are raised for their milk. By blending it with soft merino, the result is a lofty 3-ply, Z-twist yarn, that’s got that dry, bouncy feel. Mota is rustic, but soft, and perfect for showing off textured stitches in sweaters, vests, or accessories 🧶

We may be a bit biased, but will always be a shop favorite. A former staff member, Kacey started dyeing yarn in our back room! We love her beautiful color combinations that pair perfectly with her stunning patterns ♥️

We’re freshly stocked up on ’s Cotton Lino! This blend of cotton, silk, linen and alpaca creates a stunning fabric that’s a perfect for the coming warmer weather (although for our Bay Area community, we think it’s perfect for year-round) 🌷🍃🌼

We had a sample knit up of .gaughan.knits’s Mountain Laurel Top (pictured in PYRITE) that was designed in this yarn and we love how the cables both hold their structure while maintaining drape! The sport weight allows keeps the fabric lighter even with all-over cables.

We made sure to snag all the beautiful new colors that Geraldine’s dreamed up — D’ANJOU, a glowing pear green, CHOCOLATE, a rich, warm brown, BUTTER, everyone’s favorite summer color, and CIELO, a soft sky blue 🍐🍫🧈🩵 These new colors have some really perfect pairings with the existing palette, and we’re thinking some beautiful summer stripes or top & cardigan combos would be super fun!

It’s (finally) here! Our has made it through customs and it’s safe to say we’re swooning ❣️

This gorgeous yarn is 100% woolen-spun Scottish lambswool and comes in some of the most stunning heathered colors. We love that colors are dyed over both white and grey bases, so there are options for beautiful, bright, pure tones, soft pastels, as well as rich, complex earthy shades.

We’re stocking Le Petit Lambswool, a light fi*****ng weight yarn that’s absolutely perfect for dreamy fair isle colorwork or lightweight, breezy garments, as well as Le Gros Lambswool, the perfect aran weight yarn for structured knits and stunning, classic cables. As you can see, we’re having lots of fun dreaming up color palettes!

Handmade in Nepal with 100% sheep’s wool and azo-free dyes. Fibres of Life is a social entrepreneur project. They are proud members of the Fair Trade Federation and work with artisans who are members of the World Fair Trade Organization. Their products are ethically sourced and handmade by Nepali artisans using 100% natural and sustainable components.

Joy of joys! Some of our yarn has made it past customs!

We wanted the beautiful, saturated new colorways of to be here before the but alas, customs had other ideas. But it’s made it to our doors, gotten unpacked, and all these beautiful new skeins are glowing on our shelves — just in time for the final weekend of the crawl!

Join us for a Meet & Greet with local knitwear designer !

We love Jaq’s designs for the way they play with texture and color, meticulous details, and of course, their size and gender inclusivity. We’ve had the privilege of hosting Jaq for their in-person test knits and we’ve been marveling at their samples that have been hanging in the shop all week. Come meet them in person, try on samples, and join us for the final weekend of 2026!

Did you know that we have a bunch of talented artists on staff here at The Black Squirrel? Right now, we’ve got a Team Squirrel trunk show happening on the back island of the shop!

press is run by Maya Stevens, who you’ll see in the shop most often adorned in black and working on a pair of socks! Her hand-bound books and colorful risograph prints are stunning works of precise and meticulously made art. From hand marbled paper to beautifully illustrated prints, there’s a deep sense of craft in each object.

Suspiro Stitches is run by none other than our shop manager, Jess! If you’ve ever ordered from us online, there’s a good chance that Jess is the one behind the “Thank you!” on your packing slip :) From the cutest stitch marker sets, handy row counter bracelets, and who could forget our iconic stitch marker gumball machine, Jess crafts the cutest fiber arts accessories to help you finish your project!
art is run by Jo Stockdale, who is finding it awkward to write about herself in the third person 🙃 Jo’s always happy to talk you through the right yarn choice for your next project or the joys of woolen spun yarn! She’s an illustrator and artist whose love of fiber arts has led to a line of project bags and stitch markers but her work also includes art prints and stationery goods to brighten up your life 🫧

We LOVE a glowing, saturated yarn and the two shop-exclusive crawl colorways we got from are just that!

Karltruese ~ a bright, warm green tonal yarn to pay homage to this year’s crawl mascot, Karl the Frog! We are a green-loving shop so it only made sense to have a green yarn made for us 🐸

Douglas Iris ~ a vivid, variegated yarn that dances along the lines between purple and blue, it has pops of violet and cobalt that are reminiscent of the different tones in one of our favorite native flowers ✿

We’re closed today but be sure to come by and see these stunning skeins in-person for the the rest of the week!

Yes, we absolutely did bring in a brand new yarn mid-yarn crawl! We’re on a big alpaca kick at the shop and this one is for the folks looking for a lovely, soft, lace weight 100% alpaca 🦙
