A Southern transplant, Lane grew up in Tallahassee, FL and completed undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. She later moved to San Francisco to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she graduated with advanced degrees in vocal performance and then spent several years as a highly-acclaimed soprano in leading roles throughout the Bay Area. Several trips to Europe incl

uding summer studies at Oxford University and Il Globo Instituto in Italy where she traveled extensively, as well as an extended trip to Japan, fueled Lane’s love of design and architecture. Living in cities like San Francisco, Charleston, SC and Memphis created a lifetime love of the relation between a home’s past and present. After taking time off from singing to manage the demands of a growing family, Lane began to focus entirely on her other passion: designing interiors. Lane apprenticed on numerous projects with a local design and construction firm as a designer and assistant project manager before founding her own firm in 2012. This hands-on experience allowed Lane to develop a network of trusted vendors, artisans and tradespeople, often with environmental certifications. Custom and semi-custom pieces are a feature of many of Lane’s designs and she works with local artisans to create one-of-a-kind pieces for clients throughout the Bay Area. Lane McNab Interiors has developed a tried and true system for design implementation with an emphasis on a stress-free, detailed execution and client experience. A deep devotion to the transformative power of beauty in people’s lives, once through music and now through design connects Lane’s passions.

The best renovations don't erase what came before. They build on it.

The original leaded windows, the warm wood tones, and then the sectional, the leather chairs, the ottoman that pulls it all together. That conversation between old and new is what this kind of work is really about.

Not every project has a moment that stops you mid-install. This bathroom did. The tile work alone (the colors, the layering, the way the pattern moves) has made this whole project extra special. Stay tuned for the full reveal!

Still in the second bathroom of the Wine Country main house, I walk you through the tile selections and why the floor and shower interior are intentionally doing two different things.

The second bathroom in this Wine Country house: small footprint, but we made it work! Watch the full reel to see how we carved out a proper shower space that functions almost like a wet room, without defaulting to a full glass enclosure.

This is your sign to be bold.

In our Palo Alto project, we went with a hand-painted cherry blossom mural, floor to ceiling, with a Farrow & Ball hague blue everywhere and there are no regrets.

The rooms people remember are never the ones that played it safe 💙

The shower floor in this Wine Country bathroom is one of my favorite details 🤎

This handmade mosaic tile is beautiful on its own but it's also doing a lot of practical work. More grout lines mean better grip and the smaller format follows the slope of the floor so much more naturally than a large tile ever could. Good design should always work on both levels.

Neutral kitchens can start to feel cold over time. But before you repaint, try layering in wood and brass.

In this kitchen, the wood stools and light fixtures complement the cool tones of the light blue cabinets. The right accents shift the whole mood without changing much of what’s already there.

Still on site in our Wine Country bathroom. Mitered edges: not everyone knows how to do them and not every project calls for them. But when the tile is this beautiful, you have to honor it with the right technique.

Your office deserves more than big-box furniture.

This deep blue console from was the perfect find for this home office. The right height, scale and finish to hold its own against the floral wallcovering.

It’s easier to get your work done when you feel inspired by the space around you.
