PROJECT BONITA - HOME ADDITION
This was a project we did with MORE THAN A CARPENTER using templates from the design-build delivery method. We worked very closely with the homeowners during the respective design phases to deliver a design that complements this 3-story Victorian home. Our vision? A thoughtful dialogue between past and present. We celebrate it by letting a new, modern structure sit in respectful dialogue with the home's original grandeur. The result is a home that honors its heritage while providing a light-filled, functional sanctuary for generations to come. While creating a new chapter the new, two-story addition provided a solution to the limitations of the original layout—a beautiful resolution to the tension between the opulent "more is more" Victorian aesthetic and the modern desire for simplicity and light.
The new addition includes an expansion to the existing original kitchen, a bedroom, a full bathroom & laundry at the main level floor & a basement for storage.
The new kitchen showcases a blend of contemporary trends, simplicity, and functionality. We drew from the mid-century modern style, with clean lines and bold accents for a timeless yet trendy aesthetic. Imagine a multipurpose island that serves as the central hub for meal prep and casual dining sessions.
The laundry area is designed to be highly efficient within a compact footprint.
The bedroom design prioritizes a tranquil, minimalist aesthetic with a focus on "calm and serene" colors. The space was thoughtfully laid out to ensure efficient use of the combined bay window that matches the original bay window on the facade. A large closet was incorporated to maintain a clutter-free environment.
The bathroom design was centered on core modern principles: "clean lines, high efficacy lighting, neutral and muted colors. Key features include a walk-in shower with a sleek glass partition to give the room a modern feel.
