I remember my first time seeing her on the Public Broadcast Station (PBS), but I did not have a sewing machine. I continued to watch the broadcast every Saturday morning. My Grandmother taught me at an early age to save money. I remember I saved a little over one hundred dollars ($100). My mother took me to Sears & Roebuck Company to purchase my first sewing machine which was a Kenmore. I was on my way sewing my own clothing, using Simplicity Patterns and then moving on to more advanced patterns. Nancy Zieman taught me that I could make a well-tailored jacket in one week with just sewing a little bit every morning, I would set my alarm clock to get up and sew for 1 hour before heading out to work and guess what it worked. I then started making clothes for others. My biggest project was a wedding dress for a coworker. I was very scared, but I never told the person I was, it turned out beautiful, and that started the desire to have my own business. I stopped sewing for over 10 years to obtain a master's degree of science. I saw a handbag one day and that is when the passion awakened to create beautiful handbags. I followed other creative designers and learned how to perfect the body, and construction of a well-structured handbag that reflects the care and effort of a well-made handmade bag. In the summer of 2014; the Lord blessed me to open with the name he had given to me five years prior ‘In My Hands Handmade Crafts’ I opened at the local artisan/farmers market with a tent and tables showing and presenting an exceptional quality product, I had the exciting joy of landing in local newspaper on July 21, 2017; The Dispatch/Maryland Coast Dispatch people in society- featuring those helping causes in the Resort Area. I am so grateful; I get to do what I Love!
