Foyer and Stairwell:

This timeless design with a hint of drama by Camille Saum and Whitney Hansen will set the stage for visitors to the 2014 Design House. A painted diamond floor by Dieter Pluntke Decorating, Inc. greets guests in the entrance foyer with a classic statement of elegance. The shimmering, beaded wallcovering with a pesto green accent, “Arioso” by The Romo Group, continues throughout the open, three-story stairwell. The graceful lattice pattern complements the design of the beautiful circle-top window at the first landing.

The focal point of the foyer is a dramatic, mixed-media painting by Amy Donaldson, “Secret Things,” on loan from the Merritt Gallery of Chevy Chase. The two hallway chairs are slipcovered with orange linen. The custom-designed monogram is by European Design, Inc. The foyer window is dressed with Camille’s signature crinoline-lined draperies in a shocking magenta and silver metallic fabric from The Romo Group.

On either side of the circle-top window are empire-style benches custom built by William Gardner Design Studio and upholstered with fabrics from The Romo Group.

Chris Cahill of Botanical Decorators will design a scape for the balconette. Additional artwork will be donated by the Merritt Gallery.

All lighting fixtures will be provided by Niermann Weeks, including a stunning, new “Callisto Pendant” chandelier. The ceilings will be painted in a high gloss finish with Berry Dixon’s “Viburnum” by C2 Paints.

Additional design features include Camille Saum’s signature bamboo covers for the radiators, and, the hostess table skirt will feature the DC Design House
logo.

This beautiful living room is a perfect example of the charm, elegance, and dash of whimsy that is found in a Camille Saum room. Once again, Camille has used her “great eye” for color to create dramatic allure and a sophisticated ambience. Camille has included one of her signature elements - flowing, crinoline-lined draperies. Shown here in blue and buff taffeta, these dramatic panels were created by Design Logistics. The stunning Trieste chandelier, is from Niermann Weeks. It hangs from a dramatic ceiling designed by Whitney Hansen , Camille Saum Interior Design's Associate Designer, and, done by Atelier Artists. Camille added the window seat with painted bamboo slatted panels for more seating and romantic charm. On either side of the fireplace are two Camille Chairs in a champagne chevron fabric. They are part of Camille Saum Interior Design’s much anticipated new furniture line. Camille has turned to local artists for eye-catching pieces by Elizabeth Dax, Brian Kirk, and Jennifer Hamilton. This is truly Camille’s favorite design yet for the DC Design House.
