Miami Beach, Pine Tree Estate. We started on the redesign of this estate in winter 2021 during the pandemic and continued working on it until spring 2023. The project was a gut renovation down to the studs of a previous home that was previously designed by architect & developer For the redesign, we led the interior design, interior architecture and also the facade design of this estate that was 13,000 plus square feet with a planned design of a new wing bringing it to almost 18,000 square feet. I brought on as the contractor, and as the lighting designer. We also worked with on exterior landscape.
We worked closely with the owner, who is an avid art collector and supporter of the arts, to create and execute our conceptual narrative of this sanctuary home and tropical oasis. The dappled light and wind blowing through the tropical breeze connect the interior to the exterior, and move slowly with the ephemeral elements to inspire moments of quiet contemplation. Custom design elements include: hand carved wood doors, custom fireplaces and plaster reliefs, limewash walls, natural stone bathrooms. These elements are juxtaposed with sumptuous soft furnishings and materials. Inside of the home’s modern rectilinear footprint, is a decidedly soft and sinuous landscape of furnishings and art.
Conceptual art, craft, organic modernism, futurism and materiality are the central themes of the estate, featuring a mirrored guest house & art pavilion by the water and a new glass enclosed pavilion off the koi pond for entertaining, featuring wine storage, lounge for tastings, and gaming area. Key architectural highlights include a breathtaking 3 floor sculptural plaster spiral staircase, a fluted marble master bath, and custom bathrooms featuring stone, plaster, and brass fixtures. The project also features a theater, wellness spa with steam and sauna, and a gym.
