When we think of Christmas we think of fresh baked goods in our Grandmother’s kitchen.
Fruitcakes and ginger cookies galore.
On the ride to her house on Christmas morning we children would join in singing ‘Over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house we go’.
We spent hours carefully crafting this gingerbread lodge as a nod to the warmth of Christmas memories combined with our favorite Christmas song for Christmas morning!

For us this is personal.
Both of our grandfathers served.
One at Normandy. One at an army base in a time of peace. Both sacrificed their time with their families so that today we are able to freely spend time with our own families.
The stories from Normandy will send chills down your spine. Our papa H rarely spoke of it but when he did, even he, with his big strong stature, would choke up.
Papa D served in peace times over 1,000 miles away from his new bride and a newborn. He sent letters back home and would wait for weeks on end for a response. No text. No email. No cell phones.
I dare say many of you have similar stories to share. May we never forget the comforts and freedoms our ancestors fought to keep for us and may we pick up the torch and press forward in continuing the fight for our freedoms.

November has us craving the scrumptious dishes we were raised on!
One of our personal favorites (and might I add, major crowd pleaser)
is *Pecan Tassies* (👉🏼swipe for recipe)

We found this versatile acacia wood serving piece that features stately antler handles. A little fall foliage atop a warm hued linen and voila! Autumn summed up in one picture.
You can tell from the picture we’re not ones for perfection. Our Tassies are each one a bit different from the other and that’s how we feel about design.
