Sometimes you stumble onto an artist before the rest of the world catches up. That was the case last night watching Kyle Rogers paint live at Golden Age W**e Garden. His bold, expressive paintings of blues musicians and cowboys seem to appear out of nowhere, each one full of movement and soul. With upcoming shows in Texas and New York, it feels like Birmingham is getting to claim him just before the spotlight gets a whole lot brighter. Follow obnoxiouslilsh*t while you still can.🎸 🤠 🎨

Forty years ago, a chance meeting at the World Taxidermy Championships in Lawrence, Kansas, turned into a lifelong friendship. Kelly Galloup was guiding Michigan’s Pere Marquette River while I was chasing trout from North Alabama. We began trading fishing trips, stories, and a shared appreciation for wildlife art.

Kelly would go on to become one of fly fishing’s most recognized names, founding the Slide Inn on Montana’s Madison River. Those early trips opened my eyes to the magic of steelhead and trout.

Not long after, we brought our first fly-fishing painting into Seibels—Choosing a Bucktail by legendary illustrator C.E. Monroe. It was the beginning of a tradition that continues today through the remarkable work of Dirk Walker, Mary Beth Meeks, and other talented artists whose work celebrates the rivers, fish, and sporting life we love.

Fly fishing has never been just a hobby to us. It’s part of the soul of Seibels.

Some things never go out of style.

The Mendocino Bed traces its roots to the American West and the iron beds of the late 1800s. If you’ve ever watched Gunsmoke, you saw the bed in Miss Kitty’s Long Branch Saloon in Dodge City, Kansas.

Years later, Robert Redford helped reintroduce the design through his Sundance catalog. We tracked down the very iron craftsmen who had built those original beds and partnered with them to continue the tradition.

Today, each Mendocino begins as raw American steel. Every rail is cut, bent, welded, and hand-finished before becoming a bed built to last for generations. Ours is custom-crafted with a taller headboard, revealing even more of the beautiful ironwork that makes this design so distinctive.

It’s more than a bed—it’s a piece of American furniture history.
