I keep getting questions, calls and other misconstrued information.
So I would like to clarify those most common topics as I realize not everyone is aware.
1. Is Collecting Americana still open?
"No, sadly we closed our doors in December
of 2023."
2. Why? "It was a decision made over several months. It was hard, as we had put so much into the historical aspect of the old Drugstore and preserving Blackfoot History, sadly not many in the world care much about history anymore and displaying it was just a hobby that created no income, just expense, among other reasons."
3. I heard you picked up your shop and moved it to Pocatello?
"I heard that too, but the contents were auctioned off in December 2023, so that is false."
4. But you moved to Pocatello and left Blackfoot?
"No, I love Blackfoot and did not move to Pocatello, but I also love Historic Downtown Pocatello."
5. So you're in Pocatello though right?
"NO, I didn't move there Lol"
In March 2023 my now wife and I decided to rent out a booth in an Antique Store in Pocatello from our friends. It is their great shop full of various vendors. Just as a hobby to continue to sell off our remaining personal collection. We still have a ton of stuff. Collecting is in the blood." 😆
6. Then why are you still posting on Collecting America's page?
"Although the business no longer exists, the friends and contacts I made, actually have some interest in checking out any items I put in my booth in Pocatello. Plus I enjoy looking at old pics on the page, to see how nice my store was and at the right time or place would have thrived."
Plus I need an outlet for my sarcasm and humor!
7. I never see you anymore, you must have moved to Pocatello?
"I am everywhere, so you just must be in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Hopefully this clarifies much of the confusion.
I thought it would be short lived but a year later I am still hearing fictional stories.
Thanks for your support of our great little store over the years!
Feel free to stop in at 159 S. Main St. in Pocatello Idaho in Oldtown and see the many vendors at Kanda's & Co. Antique Store.
May all your wildest dreams come true, mine have this year! Keep reaching for the stars, but don't fall flat on your face!
Support Downtown Blackfoot always, it is hard to make a go and many people pour their heart into a dream!
