Today was fun. Built and used a crosscut sled, neither of which I'd ever done before, to cut the edge grain glue-up into slices. Then held my breath as I rotated them into place to reveal the pattern. It's not perfect, but close enough for my first try, 😃 Will try to do the final glue-up tomorrow.

Well, it is what it is now. Think I went too light with the glue, but we'll find out tomorrow.

Work in progress...
It's been a while since I've made a cutting board and this will be my first try at an end grain one. Did I bite off more than I can chew? Possibly. Have to start somewhere and I didn't want to do a boring one species board or a plain checkerboard.

Waking up the CNC router from it's long nap while I did some shop outfitting work and making some catch-all trays for the upcoming fall craft shows.

Finally finished the bowl I've been working for what seems like forever. I ended up have to cut it down a big because of some flaws, but it still turned out to be a nice utility bowl.

It's a shame that so much black walnut ends up on the floor (or in chicken coops). I should look into a coring system at some point.

Finally getting back to this bowl I started who knows how long ago. Long enough that I'd forgotten just how hard dry black walnut is.
