Become Your Own Seamstress Sewing Clinics in June:
Wednesday, June 3rd, June 10th and June 17
noon–2pm
max class size 5 people
Ages 10 and up
Cost $40
This clinic is a relaxed, open studio where everyone works on their own thing, at their own pace, with guidance from Alyssa of Tangle Syx (tanglesyx.com).
Whether you want to finally hem those pants that have been sitting in a pile, mend something you love, alter a thrift store find, or learn to sew a garment from scratch — this is the place. If you’re brand new to sewing, we’ll start right there. No project too small, no skill level too beginner.
What kinds of projects? Clothing alterations and repairs, garments you’re making from scratch, mending and visible mending, and small accessory and home dec projects. (This clinic focuses on clothing and wearables, so quilts, upholstery, and craft projects aren’t the right fit here.)

What to bring:
Your sewing machine — Bringing your own is a great way to get more comfortable with it. Don’t have one? No problem, just let us know ahead of time and we’ll have one ready for you.
Your machine manual — Helpful for threading and anything specific to your machine.
Needles and bobbins for your machine — These are machine-specific, so bring what fits yours.
Your project — Fabric, pattern, work-in-progress, or just an idea. Whatever stage you’re at, bring it. If you’re not sure where to start, we’ll figure it out together.
Thread for your project — If you don’t have the right color, Ebb & Flow carries thread and supplies you can grab right here at the shop.
Need to borrow a machine? Reach out before class so we can have one set up for you.

POSTPONED-
Visible mending is the art of restoring our clothing with creativity, not only repairing the tear but adding beauty and story to our beloved garments along the way, while also saving them from the landfill. In this 2 hr workshop and stitch circle, we will learn the basics of visible mending, starting from threading the needle, and leave feeling confident in approaching projects at home. The first half will be instruction and stitch practice, followed by time to work on whatever items you bring you mend, with Maggie’s support. Folks are invited to bring a couple pieces of clothing to repair (and can browse the shop for patch material as well:)). Beginners warmly welcome.
🪔
Maggie Ruth Haaland (they/she) is a fiber artist, herbalist, and facilitator newly wiggling herself into the midcoast soil. They regularly facilitate natural dye, visible mending and herbalism workshops in the northeast, with a focus on connecting folks to themselves, community and the land. She believes deeply in the power of creating with our hands as a way to dream new worlds.

In case you didn’t know- Ebb and Flow is back open and expanded!
~
With everything more spread out, you’re bound to find new things that may have been here all along! Please don’t be shy about asking where something is or if you need help grabbing something from a shelf!
~
Sections have moved around and we will continue to refine them! The back room in the original shop unit is now the ā€œQuilter’s Roomā€ where those large shelves full of fabric pieces less than a yard now live. (Plus ALL the quilting books.) Quilter’s Bits By The Pound and Wool By The Pound are still there too!
All sewing patterns & cross stitch/embroidery/needlepoint materials are now on the new side of the shop- plus so much more. Come explore what’s new for yourself! 🪔
~
And thank you all for your continued massive support. I am so grateful for you and what I’ve been able to create in this community. šŸ¤—šŸ§µšŸ§¶
~
P.S. DONATION REQUESTS:
I am completely out of crochet hooks and needle felting needles! If you have an excess or don’t use yours, I know so many people would be so happy to find them here in the shop. Thank you 🄰
Open regular hours: Wednesday-Sunday 11:00-4:00
(Unexpected closures due to weather/sickness will always be posted on Instagram/Facebook)
