Beginner Knitting at Low Country Shrimp and Knits - because Grandma Was Onto Something!

Did a family member try to teach you to knit, and now you feel a tiny trauma response every time you see a ball of yarn?

Let’s try this again.

Knitting is cool—and maybe Grandma was right all along. If you’re ready for a hobby that doesn’t require a charger, this beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start.

No experience needed. We’ll cover casting on, the knit stitch, reading your needles, and turning yarn into actual fabric. If everyone’s cruising, we may even introduce the purl stitch.

Needle felting for the holidays!

Bring a friend and join us for a needle felting class to create your very own holiday decoration. Include it in a centerpiece, put it in a curio, make it in to an ornament, or give it as a gift! Come spend 2-3 hours with us stabbing and creating your very own cute creature.

Halloween Ghost- October 10th from 12-2pm

It may still be 90 degrees here in the Low Country but fall is quickly approaching bringing with it new yarns to squish!

You may have seen we brought in a new line, Woolfolk, when we moved the shop. We have expanded the line by adding FAR, the squishiest 100% Merino Wool worsted weight yarn! You'll want to knit or crochet yourself a nightgown and just live in this yarn forever!

It’s warm. It’s elegant. It makes cables and textured stitches look fantastic. And once you touch it, you may find yourself standing in the yarn aisle quietly reconsidering your budget.

FO Friday is full today!

First, we have 2 finished Cloudbreak Tees from our latest Knit Along that just finished up last week. Want to join our next Knit Along? We only have 1 slot left on Fridays and 1 on Sundays starting in September!

Our last 2 FOs are by a couple of our regular drop-in Open Knit crew.
Arlene has been working on this vest for a while and got it finished in time to wear it this fall!

Most ghosts spend Halloween haunting old mansions. This one found a pumpkin and immediately became emotional support produce. 👻🎃

Join us for a 2-hour beginner needle felting class and make your own ridiculously cheerful little Halloween sidekick. No experience required, all materials included. If you can repeatedly stab wool, you’re qualified.
