Today I learned that we lost a dear friend, Donna. She was such an important part of my life and the story of Two Trick Pony, and it’s hard to find the words to say goodbye.
I first met Donna in 2006, when I moved to Boerne and was looking for a doctor. She worked in the front office for Dr. Vela. Almost as soon as we met, she offered to take me around town and show me neighborhoods I might want to call home. That kindness is something I’ve never forgotten.
A couple of years later, Donna came to work with me at Walgreens. When I left in 2014 to open Two Trick Pony, she joined me shortly afterward and helped turn a dream into a business. So much of what this store became was built with her help, her care, and the relationships she formed with our customers.
Donna stayed with us through the pandemic before retiring to spend more time with her family. I know many of our longtime customers remember her fondly, and I wanted you to know of her passing.
Looking back, I feel so grateful that finding a doctor all those years ago brought Donna into my life. She became a friend, someone I could count on, and a lasting part of this store’s history.
My heart is with her family and everyone who loved her. Thank you, Donna, for your friendship and for everything you gave to me and Two Trick Pony. You will be deeply missed.
