A little design show & tell from a few recent favorites. Camp Grizz, where a fireplace, a room full of instruments, and plenty of places to sink in make the living room feel like it’s been loved for years. Summerlin, all soft blue tonal layers and the kind of bedroom that immediately lowers the volume. Willow Creek, proof that a blue and white kitchen can have plenty of personality without sacrificing an ounce of timelessness. And Belleview, where mixed chair fabrics and a large red Turkish rug make the dining room feel collected, layered, and just unexpected enough.

I’ve spent years trying to convince clients to let me design a purple kitchen. Years!!

So when it came time to designing Camp Grizz, I figured there was only one solution. If nobody else was going to let me do a purple kitchen, I’d just have to build one for myself. And honestly? I have zero regrets. Every time I walk into it, it makes me smile, which is exactly what I think a home should do.

Hallways deserve more love. They’re often treated as spaces you simply pass through, but they’re an opportunity to create a moment between rooms. The trick is knowing when to add interest and when to hold back.

A beautiful light fixture, thoughtfully placed artwork, a little texture, or a rich paint color can make a hallway feel intentional without making it feel busy.

If you’ve been here for a while, you already know we have a soft spot for a good bunk room.

When we designed Camp Grizz, we knew we wanted a space that could welcome everyone. Friends, cousins, grandparents, and also, friends’ kids too.

So we went all in.

Four full beds. Four twin beds. Room for **12** people to pile in after long days outside.

Because the best mountain houses aren’t designed around how many people live there. They’re designed around how many people you hope will come.

Every designer deserves a place that’s just for them.

Camp Grizz is Emily’s family mountain home. It’s where weekends slow down, muddy boots pile up by the door, long dinners stretch into the evening, and the best memories seem to happen when nobody’s looking.

Designing your own home is a different kind of challenge. Every decision is personal, every room has to work hard, and somehow it still becomes the place that feels the most effortless.

Some need room for weeknight dinners and homework. Others host holiday feasts, game nights, or long conversations that stretch well past dessert.

That’s why no two dining rooms we’ve designed look alike. Each one reflects the people who use it, from the scale of the table to the fabrics, lighting, and materials that make it feel like home.

Unexpected design moments 👀

This hand-painted tile backsplash isn’t random, but it isn’t symmetrical either.

Instead of placing each decorative tile in a repeating pattern, we distributed them organically throughout the backsplash. That slight irregularity keeps your eye moving and makes the installation feel more relaxed, collected, and authentic.

When every detail is perfectly mirrored, a room can begin to feel predictable. Introducing a little variation is often what gives a space its soul.
