9 Square Coasters:

A few weeks back, my wife and mother-in-law were working on a quilt pattern together. I thought about the 9 square pattern and pondered what it would look like to include 9 different species of wood. I placed an order for a wide variety of species of wood from Exotic Wood Zone in St. Louis (if you ever get a chance to go in person, it's incredible!)

The 9 square coasters include 9 different species of wood including sections of maple, mahogany, cherry, ambrosia, walnut, cedar, ash, alder and more. Each set is finished with spar urathane to withstand moisture and keep the beautiful wood grain showing.

What is the next new item for Fall? Candy Corn Pumpkins!

I enjoyed making these pumpkins each year! I decided to try to come up with a new color variation for this year, and decided to make some pumpkins inspired by our favorite fall candy! Each pumpkin is finished with a festive fall ribbon!

I don't know about you but I am ready for fall! I am excited to share several new fall items that I am making this season! Here is the first new item for fall!

Barnwood Boxes and Crosses:

A few weeks ago, I was asked about making some items using barnwood. The barnwood was significant being that it once belonged to his father-in-law who passed away in May. He asked to take the wood and make several boxes and crosses as gifts for his loved ones. I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Planing barnwood is an adventure within itself. Avoiding nails and seeing the true character of the wood always makes it interesting. I was surprised to see the first board I planed was beautiful maple. I decided to use it for the crosses and leave a few of the remnants of nails. The other boards were a mix of poplar and oak. I decided to use both of these woods for the boxes.

I wanted to share several photos so you can see a little more of the process along the way. Its pretty amazing how far things go from start to finish in woodworking. I hope these items can bring some comfort and fond memories. I appreciate the opportunity to be apart!

Black Storage chest w/ Maple and Oak:

I was excited to get an order for a storage chest with a new color design! I really like the contrast of the black paint to the natural wood top. For the top, I chose maple with oak and decided to poly instead of stain. I am really happy with how it turned out, and I can't wait to get it to its new home!

Tractor Planters:

I finished up two new tractor planters this week. They are ready for their forever home! I included a planter box for your petunias, marigolds, or other favorite flowers. I enjoyed making these for Elliott and my mother-in-law a few years back. I made one green and yellow and one red and black (you know the brands). They are priced at $80 each. Let me know if you would like to purchase one! I have two ready to go!
