Hi all! This is a pic of my “Stella mums.” I call them that because they remind me of my granddaughter Stella who is now a sophomore in college. When she was in high school her soccer team held a fundraiser every year selling fall mums. Of course, I always bought them and sometimes I actually planted them into the ground. To my surprise they grew back year after year. So much so that now I have a mini hedge of mums. I love them but I wish I knew the secret to making them more bushy and less free falling like these. I pinched them back until July 4th like I was told and they still end up floppy. Does anyone have any advice for me for next year?

Just when I was about to give up on the whole dahlia process ~ this beautiful cream beauty appeared in my garden. It is a dinner plate dahlia. I guess I will dig up the tubers later this month, put them in peat moss, store them in the basement and pray they live until next spring again this year. The reward seems to be worth it 😀.

It figures. The flowers I give the least attention to seem to be doing the best. These are window box flowers at our cottage on Cape Cod. We have only been here sporadically throughout the summer. Am I killing the ones at home with love 💕?
