Late summer asks for a lot of extra time. Everything is a little wild, a little sun-faded, and completely overflowing. Partially because I love allowing the plants to sprawl out and maybe, I just can’t keep up with trimming/weeding. Hollyhocks towering overhead, cosmos dancing, sunflowers soaking up every last bit of light. And me, wandering through it all with my clippers, gathering armfuls to bring into the shop

The forest is calling. Closed today for much needed outdoor time. Weekend plans: dirt on my hands and shoes, sun through the trees, and whatever the woods decide to share with me. There’s something about summer foraging that resets the whole system, slow down, look closer, let the trail lead.
Last visits from our time in the woods, friendly pika, curious chipmunk, tiny frog, gentle butterfly. Montana summer is a short season, but an extraordinary ride.
