I got out in the shop this morning and cut and dyed some leather for my little project.
This belt is to match the buckle I made a while back and it’s going to be the perfect project to keep me busy tomorrow at the show.
Hand stitching this will eat up a couple hours for sure.
Not something I plan to do much of. I’d have to machine stitch it to make it cost effective.😁

It’s been a while since I’ve used ulti-clips. These are a handy option for carrying a fixed blade off the belt(pocket or boot carry is what I had in mind).
These clips are much more secure than a simple spring clip, and do require good hand strength to release the clamp.

Some random stuff I forged out Saturday and rough ground this morning. They’ll get tempered this afternoon or tomorrow.
I’ve got a lot of stuff started and its time to start wrapping up a few projects.

Notice the difference in color from the edge portion of the blades to the spine?
I’ve found that quenching edge first for a few seconds before submerging the spine allows me to fully harden the edge portion while resisting warp. The spine still goes in a glowing red color, but by that time the edge is hardening and rigid enough to guide the spine as it is shocked into cooling hundreds of degrees in a couple of seconds.
A sudden immersion in the quench tank often will often shock the blade into an ugly warp that has to be corrected.
This isn’t the only RIGHT WAY, but it works well for me.

I got a little sidetracked while I was supposed to be working on knives. 😁
I wanted a new belt buckle and it seemed like more fun building one than buying one.
It probably took longer than it should have to make, but now I know a few things to avoid the next time.
