For those looking for a warm, grounded brown, meet Scout from our Rebels Collection.

With just the right amount of rustic, Scout ranges from deep chocolate to warm chestnut brown, with natural grain movement and soft knots that give it an organic, lived-in feel.

But the beauty is only half the story.

Scout is made from real European white oak with our moisture-resistant HDF core and high-performance, solvent-free finish, making it 3–5x harder than traditional hardwood and waterproof enough to handle real life.

And at 10 ¾” wide and over 7 feet long, every plank gives you that ultra-wide, full-length look without random lengths.

Scout pairs naturally with Hideout and Bunk Room, sharing their earthy palette.

Real wood. Rich brown. Built for the liveliest homes.

When Christina of Christina Martinez | Desert Living built her Tucson home, finding a floor that looked beautiful and felt grounding was essential.

Fika quickly became the answer. “It feels like a dance between luxury and nature,” she says. “I can actually feel the wood underfoot, and it’s not hard on my body walking around barefoot.”

Sometimes the best design solution is the one that changes the architecture of the room.

For this HGTV-featured home, designer Kim Wolfe reimagined what had been one of the owners’ biggest pain points: a small spiral staircase that made the space feel closed off.

“I wanted to provide homeowners Beth and Dimitri with a modern, functional staircase.” — Kim Wolfe

The new staircase does exactly that, opening up the room while becoming an architectural statement in its own right. Kim carried Little Square across the stairs and siding, wrapping the structure in warm Scandinavian oak and turning something purely functional into a defining design moment.

Proof that the right material doesn’t just finish a space. It can completely reshape it.

The most asked questions we get is ‘is there a preferred installer in my area?’ And the answer is that anyone can install our floors!

We do have a list of our Preferred Installers on our site. These are contractors we know well who do incredible work throughout the country.

But if you don’t see anyone in your area, don’t stress- any contractor or installer can install, and if they have questions about technique or the locking system at any point they can give us a call at 1-844-MY-STUGA.

We spent the weekend in Maine at the beautifully crafted sargentwoodscottage and were once again reminded why Shell is one of our best selling floors.

Thoughtfully designed by Julie Arnold/Place Interiors, the vacation rental is on the edge of Acadia National Park with forest bathing encouraged even if you don’t plan to leave its two wooded acres. The Shell floors they selected anchor the woodland retreat bringing the calm of nature indoors.

Made of natural oak with just enough white stain to cancel any honey tones, Shell’s color and texture are reminiscent of one of the sun-bleached treasures to be found washed ashore on the coasts of Scandinavia.

An oiled, hand-scraped finish means this floor has the same ultra-matte and raw texture of a sand dollar, but with heavy brushing so the wood, its grain, and the tree’s original knots shine through.

The result is a modern floor that keeps the quiet, organic feel of a morning walk through the trees- such a delight.

Shell is currently on sale through the end of August.

“Many conventional flooring options can introduce unwanted chemicals through adhesives, finishes, stain treatments, synthetic materials, and VOCs. When we have the opportunity to make a flooring choice, we look for thoughtfully sourced materials with cleaner finishes and fewer chemical treatments.

A few of Allison’s favorites:

🤍 Engineered hardwood: Stuga for low-VOC finishes, no added formaldehyde, quality construction, and stricter Scandinavian emissions standards.

🤍 Carpet: Allison chose the Whitfield carpet from Rugs By Roo | Healthy Washable Rugs, a 100% wool option without fumigation or pesticide treatments, added PFAS or stain repellents, toxic dyes, or chemical treatments.

🤍 Underlayment: QuietWalk from Green Building Supply, specifically the cleaner option without antimicrobials. Their cork underlayment is another great option for hardwood.

And something we can ALL think about, regardless of the flooring already in our homes? What we clean them with.

Choose human-safe, fragrance-free!🫧”

There’s a reason we feel better in spaces grounded in natural materials.

Wood brings warmth, texture, and an inherent connection to nature into the home, creating interiors that feel as good as they look.

And when the materials beneath our feet are thoughtfully made and non-toxic, design becomes part of a larger conversation around wellbeing.

PSA, ‘engineered’ is not a bad word in reference to hardwood floors!

And yes, all of our floors are engineered. Our Icons date back to 1941, when the first engineered wood floors were developed, and they’re still made using that same time-tested construction today.

Our Rebels are a newer evolution of engineered hardwood, designed to be highly durable and topically waterproof.

Both options offer the warmth and beauty of real wood, with the added performance benefits of engineered construction.
