THIS DAY IN TEXAS HISTORY — OCTOBER 9, 1835

While everyone remembers Gonzales and the Alamo, another important Texas Revolution story unfolded at Goliad.

On the night of October 9, 1835, a small group of Texian volunteers approached the Mexican garrison at Presidio La Bahía.

They attacked before dawn and captured the fort.

The victory gave the Texians weapons and supplies — but just as importantly, it cut an important Mexican supply route between the Gulf Coast and San Antonio.

Sometimes the smaller battles end up making a very big difference.

Stay Curious, Texas. 🤠
