Setting up and getting ready for Oktoberfest. Yes, it’s raining and damp, but the vendors are here, the beer, cider and wine are here and the band is warming up and they sound awesome. Bring chairs if you have them and you may want bring a small tent, but it will be well worth it.

Some of the beers that we have at Oktoberfest this year are from the Blue Ridge Beverage Company. They provided six different beers. There are two Oktoberfest beers, Coors light, an Apple Crumb, an Amber ale, a German style alt beer, and a Pumpkin Ale.

The cider is from Showalters and we have Off the Press, Betwixt, and Cider Makers Barrel.

The wine consists of a Moscato, a Sauvignon Blanc from France, and a Cabernet Sauvignon from France as well.

There was even a heron flying over when the bands were warming up. I’m sure she thought they were quite impressive!

This year the music is Kevin Quesenberry and Burden of Thieves .

There are approximately 13 baskets of gift cards and products donated by the businesses participating in Travel the Towns and they range from $75-$400. Broadway, New Market, and Timberville businesses have donated gift cards and items for the baskets and there is no cost to the customer. You can pick up a passport at any of the businesses, and just by going in, you will get a sticker. If you choose to buy something in that business, you’ll get an additional sticker. Collect enough stickers from each town and dropping off your passport in one of the three designated drop boxes (there is one at each town…. J and B’s in Broadway, and the town offices in both Timberville and New Market) will put you in the drawing for these baskets. It’s a chance to see each of the towns, explore what they have to offer, as well as a chance to win great gifts and prizes. We want to help local businesses, as well as get people in the area out to see what each town offers and patronize local businesses, whether it’s now or in the future.

Travel the Towns Passport will continue through May 4th but we're hearing some places are already out of stickers??!! WOW! 😳 You guys are rocking this!!! ❤️

Where did you visit this weekend? Did you find a new business that is now a favorite? Tell us about your adventures through the towns... 🚗🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

This is something that the towns of New Market, Timberville, and BHP (Broadway Hometown Partnership) in Broadway are all trying this year for the first time. You can pick up your passports in the participating stores in each town. There will be drawings for baskets that range from $75 all the way up to $400 and it’s a great way to visit businesses in each town. No purchase is necessary in order to win. Please share.

Timberville, we have some fun and exciting news!! 😀

We have partnered with the Town of New Market and Broadway Hometown Partnership to bring the Travel the Towns Passport event, a tri-town event that includes 54 businesses across our three towns!

This tri-town partnership initiative encourages residents to visit and shop businesses in each of the 3 towns!

Check out this sneak peak of some of the gift cards, gift certificates and items donated by our participating businesses that will be made into baskets valued between $75 - $400! 🤯

Fill out a passport to be entered to win!

Passport event begins this FRIDAY, April 25th and goes through Sunday, May 4th. Keep an eye out for more information this week! 👀

Today Jim and I took the train and went to Garmish, one of our favorite small cities. Lots of lovely painted buildings, beautiful shops, and pedestrian areas where you can walk and not have to worry about cars.

Jim and I finally got into the Hofbrauhaus. We stopped by yesterday and there was a line of between 40 and 50 people. Then we stopped by again today around 12:30 and there was another line, just not as long.

We decided not to wait and did a little more walking around the city before coming back. Jim has his beer and I got a video of the band playing. I can only do pictures or videos, not both so I’ll do the pictures first and the video will follow.
