Designed for a feeling, not just an aesthetic.

Studio Boden, a Toronto interior design studio, designed this High Park home for a young family. The goal for the primary bedroom was simple: cozy, serene and restorative, a place for two busy parents to fully unwind.

The clients needed complete blackout for sleep but still wanted softness and privacy during the day. Our answer was two layers of ripplefold drapery. Sheers filter the daylight, which matters in a high-performance home built to let in lots of natural light. Blackout panels close for the night. Both hang from ceiling-mounted tracks, which keep the hardware out of sight and make the room feel taller.

The finishing details: 200% fullness for soft, deep folds and a hem that sits half an inch above the floor for a clean, tailored line.

It quickly became the clients' favorite room in the house. In the designers' words, it's "their calm, their sanctuary."

Thinking about custom drapery? Studio Boden's tip is to see fabrics in your own space, because natural light changes how they look through the day.

How to Give a Studio Apartment a Real Bedroom

One open room, no privacy. Here's how we fixed it in an afternoon.

📍Start with a ceiling-mounted track.
📍Go tone-on-tone with drapery that matches the walls, so the divider looks built-in.
📍Leave the install to the pros.

The result is a bedroom you can close off at night and open back up during the day, with nothing permanent added to the space.

Woven fabric filtering warm afternoon light, a room that feels lived-in without trying too hard. Our Roman shades do the quiet work here, softening the space while everything else gets to be the star. Textured layering at its best.

Step inside this century home, thoughtfully reimagined by Kait Schneider of Flōm Design. She worked with us to select window treatments that balance the home's original character with everyday function, creating a thoughtful space that's classic, modern, and ultra-livable.

“The architecture of the home was the starting point,” says Schneider. “I wanted to modernize this century home while still honouring its history and original character. The resulting style is transitional: clean and current, but grounded in traditional details.”
