Art is so much more than the visual. Every piece you see has a person behind it, and quality art— art that has a backbone, makes you think, and has impact- is the result of countless hours of experimentation, research and consideration.

Here are a few clips of Stephen Thorpe’s work and studio. 🖤

In the post, I’m sharing who these advisors are, what pieces they picked out from the fair, and how these relationships help lift us all up. 👯‍♀️

Some tips:
1. Consider art with “negative space”, or a fair amount of raw canvas. This can balance the more colorful elements of a composition, creating cohesion between interior and art.

2. Play with scale. A smaller piece with lots of color can often “hold a wall” without feeling overwhelming.

3. You won’t get sick of a small dose of color. All neutrals all the time, however, will eventually feel generic. LIVE A LITTLE.

This seems so absurd in an age that has plenty of real global problems to address.

We’ve sourced from Canadian galleries for years. They have consistently been a pleasure to work with, and their artists’ works live in many of our client homes.

All galleries and artists are tagged. Please support them, and the many benefits of cultural exchange. 🩷🩷🩷

When we post a new project, we often get lots of: “Wow! Love the art! Nice job!” We always appreciate it.

For this, however, it feels important to note that we never act alone. A few other key people made this project a success:
1. THE ARTISTS! All of them are committed to their practice. Their work is incredible. And, they are genuinely great people.

2. THE CLIENTS! We don’t choose these collections- the clients do. We tee up recommendations and provide support from soup to nuts, but it’s our clients who call the shots.

3. THE GALLERIES: Some of these galleries pulled work off the truck for an art fair and rejigged their plans to let us have these pieces, installed on time, and looking perfect.

4. THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Jane Beiles took all of these photos, and that is an art in itself. The first one shown is a personal favorite, but playing with light and people in corporate spaces, and creating photos like this, is no easy job!

This Manhattan Corporate HQ project is now live on our site with artist and full details.

To be clear, we do this for EVERY SINGLE PROJECT. It’s all about balance, optimizing budget, finding ties between the established and the emerging, and making a personalized colllection.

*By “high” and “low”, we just mean art at a relatively higher and relatively lower price point. Neither is better or worse, and clearly, everything here is special.

Yes it’s art fair week, but our favorite community event of the year is one month away. This is something we started 9 years ago with support from the Cobble Hill, Brooklyn and here are the details:

1. This is an organized event where 100+ kids from the Cobble Hill, Brooklyn community can register to create a Halloween-themed painting on a designated retail window space.

2. The event is free and all participants receive a fully packed art supply bag.

3. Registration opens first to CHA members on Oct 5th. Membership is free. Comment CHA for the link.

4. Registration opens to everyone else on Oct 6th.

5. Spots book up quickly! Email [email protected] for questions.

Thank you brooklynstoriesstudio for all these pics from 2025! 🎃
