Custom window treatments in a Manhattan penthouse: 8 Rooms, 8 different answers.

Which one’s yours?

Floor-to-ceiling custom drapery in the living room. Solar shades in the primary bath that cut glare without losing the skyline. Custom drapes in the library. Motorized shades throughout, powered by Somfy.

Every room in this NYC high-rise got what the room needed, not what was easiest to repeat. That’s what custom window treatments mean.

Swipe through and tell us which room you’d take. 👇

What makes us happy? Window treatments that make the entire room feel finished.

From tailored custom drapery and soft sheers to beautifully fitted Roman shades, every treatment in this home was selected to complement the architecture, furniture and natural light.

Because the right window treatments do more than cover a window, they help define the entire space.

Custom drapery. Roman shades. Sheer window treatments. Thoughtful details from room to room.

Which look is your favorite?

One window. Two completely different moods.

During the day, the sheer ripple fold drapery softens harsh sunlight and keeps the room feeling bright, airy, and comfortable.

Then when it’s time for privacy, rest, or total light control, the motorized roller shade comes down and transforms the space.

That’s the advantage of layered custom window treatments: you’re not forced to choose between natural light and blackout. You can have both, designed to work together.

13-foot windows definitely make a statement. But on a project like this, the real challenge happens behind the scenes.

From custom drapery and shades to precise measurements, installation logistics, and coordinating every detail throughout the penthouse, a project of this scale only works when the designer and window treatment team are completely aligned.

Working with Cory Harrison meant constant communication, attention to detail, and a shared vision from start to finish, making a complex installation feel seamless.

Because luxury window treatments aren’t just about choosing beautiful fabrics. They’re about getting every measurement, motor, track, drapery panel, and installation detail right.

That’s what great collaboration looks like.

Most windows aren’t as level as they look, especially in NYC.

That’s why Jonathan doesn’t just measure from wherever is easiest.

Because custom shades are installed at the top of the window, that’s where the most important measurement needs to happen. A small difference in the frame can affect the fit, the alignment, and how the finished shade operates.

So yes, the step stool comes with us for a reason.

Precise measurements first. Better-fitting custom window treatments after.

Soft light when you want it. More privacy when you need it.

This layered window treatment setup combines custom ripple-fold sheer drapery with a motorized roller shade, giving the room two completely different moods from the same window.

During the day, the sheers diffuse the sunlight and keep the space feeling bright and open. Then, with the motorized shade lowered, you get added privacy and stronger light control in seconds.

How wide can one custom shade actually go?

5 feet? No problem.
10 feet? Keep going.
15 feet? Still talking.
20 feet? Now it gets interesting.

For oversized residential windows, the answer depends on the fabric, motor, hardware, weight, and how the entire window treatment is engineered.

That’s why custom motorized shades aren’t really about picking a number off a chart. They’re about designing the right system for the opening.

And when Dean gets asked where the limit is? Never say never.
