We recently completed a project where the homeowner wanted the warmth and feel of real wood floors - but in a basement. Engineered hardwood is ideal for this application because its multi-layer construction provides increased stability and moisture resistance, allowing it to withstand the fluctuating humidity and temperature conditions often found in below-grade environments. On this project we extended the existing hardwood (prefinished red oak). Customer wanted a natural wood color so we sanded off the previous pre-stained color and applied poly to protect the wood (no stain). The finished look turned out great!
