Fall decorating is one of my favorites! And I love mustard yellow!

My color palette is neutral in my living room so I can play with pillows, throws and flowers each season.

The flowers on the mantle remind me of the Harvest, when we are reminded of the bounty of the earth.

Accessorizing a mantle is unique to our own individual tastes.

I love working with this family who has lived in so many countries of the world and really enjoys bringing their collectible artifacts into the design of the room.

This fireplace wall is is a very traditional style, yet these artifacts are bringing some grounding and earthy elements that contrast the bright white color.

You can see in the second picture that these artifacts will tie in nicely with the antique furniture on the opposite wall.

The room will be utilized as a library for the family and will surround them with their unique family heritage as they celebrate holidays and special occasions here.

The furniture will arrive in another month and the room will be able to showcase its new look just in time for the Holidays!

Rugs! They are as much as picking out lighting!

And yes, they are a rooms accessory too!

So, how do you mix two different rugs in the same room?

1.) Find a common color and use that a jumping off point.

2.) You can match a runner and a larger rug but you know it really depends in how big the space is and how far apart they are..I personally like to mix elements so matching doesn't always work for me and not a lot of my clients either actually.

3.) Be careful if you are using different patterns, some can go really well together so don't be afraid to do this.

What I choose for this families kitchen, was a more floral type, washable rug under the table and a more solid rug for the runner. It is an rug. The Mother of this family home loves plants and the windows look out to some great trees and nature spots.

The runner needed to be durable and a more solid tone given the hunter green on the island. You can spot clean the rug which is definitely needed for this very busy family of five!

We are in our last weeks of summer and I love to sit in my back patio with my garden.

Remember that your backyard patio is also a space for great design/decor.

Put a throw on your chair for those chilly nights coming in the Fall.

Change up your colors each year with throw pillows just like on your couches and chairs inside! I actually changed up my design late last summer into the Fall. Yep, just like I do inside!

Who doesn't love a good kitchen renovation?

Bathrooms and kitchens are my favorite rooms to renovate!

This is a kitchen renovation I am working on with a busy family with three adorable children.

I'm pretty excited to see all of the finishing touches come together.

Isn't the green island gorgeous! And the counter weaves that color in as well.
