LA'S HIGH END CONSIGNMENT COMPANY, ANGEL CITY SALES is proud to offer this RARE ROBERT GRAHAM MOCA 11" TORSO SCULPTURE statue after residing many years with our client and it has remained in pristine AS PICTURED condition. Each of the 3500 created each featured their own unique patina and this one is the most lovely that I've seen anywhere. This beautiful statue rests on a dowel on the rotating mount. The owner used a lightweight adhesive to secure the heavyweight figure to the wooden pedestal which itself is an approximately 6" square. The sharp unique rotating pedestal allows you to feature the highly detailed various angles wherever it reats and however it is lit.

While there are many of these being sold in the $6500-$10000 range… we're proud to be offering our superior example with this specially selected professional base. This extremely heavyweight bronze sculpture is currently secured with a light adhesive to the pedestal dowel but can be separated with ease if you prefer to display it without the mount. On the mount it measures approximately 17 1/2 inches high and impresses in any space it inhabits!

Please feel free to ask any questions you have in advance of bidding. We cannot negotiate over auction terms like S/H or anything else after an item ends. This beautiful sculpture will not be listed long so if you're serious about owning it - do not delay. IF you live in LA we will consider local pickup but only if payment is made in cash via "PAYMENT AT PICKUP" option.

ABOUT KARL SPRINGER
The Berlin-born, New York–based designer Karl Springer brought a chic, high-fashion sensibility to furnishings. During his heyday in the 1970s, Springer’s work was a favorite of the glamour set, who enjoyed the novelty of pieces finished in rich and striking materials that ranged from exotic hides and skins to lacquer and chromed metal. In a sense, Springer was a pre-postmodernist. Much as the dull, safe, corporate sameness of late 20th-century modernism prompted Ettore Sottsass, Michael Graves and others to explore new and provocative structures and materials in design and architecture, so, too, was Springer driven to enliven his creations with fresh and alluring energy and sleekness. Springer came to New York in the late 1950s and found work arranging window displays at the department store Lord & Taylor. He had studied bookbinding in Germany, and, using his meticulous skills, he began crafting desk accessories wrapped in leather as a sideline. These pieces were sold in luxury stores like Bergdorf Goodman, and drew a sophisticated clientele that included the Duchess of Windsor. By 1965, he had established his own Manhattan atelier, and at his death he had showrooms as far afield as Los Angeles, Tokyo and Munich. The chairs, tables, credenzas and other furniture forms Springer created are generally simple, but substantial, and often have robust, rounded lines. The attraction of Springer’s work lies in his insistence on exacting construction and, above all, his eye for unusual materials and finishes. He employed Lucite, brass, and gunmetal along with chromed and polished steel, and revived exquisite finishes rarely seen since the days of Art Deco masters such as Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann and Jean-Michel Frank: shagreen (a type of sharkskin), python, goatskin, bone, horn, and lacquered parchment, as well as fabrics that include batik prints. Made of such materials, Springer’s work is by its very nature flamboyant and eye-catching: a suite of pieces will astonish, and an artfully placed side table in exotic hide will add a surprising spark.
