Maridee Creates is being put on hold. I’ve decided to step back from my business to focus on something near and dear to my heart – my family. My attention and focus needs to be on them for the near future.

I did send an email last week with this news but I know not all of you are on that list, so I’m sharing it here too. While I’m away, I won’t have any email updates and very few social media posts, but I’ll eagerly anticipate our reunion. Your understanding and support mean everything to me, and I can’t wait to come back with new stories and experiences to share.

All of my crochet patterns will remain available but I don’t plan on doing much more designing for a while. My focus for this year is to clear my WIP’s pile. I’ve made a list that is much longer than I thought! What you find when you dig through all your project bags is amazing.

I hope 2024 is a wonderful year for you, and I get to see some of you in person as we all continue on our yarny adventures!

I'm back to knitting working on the holiday stockings I started last year and I'm determined to finish them soon! The one for my husband is already done and this one is obviously for me. I'm using the Holiday Doodle pattern from Pacific Knit Co plus some of my own adjustments too! I'm happy with how it's looking! What are you working on today?

I know I've been a bit MIA for the past several weeks but things have changed a bit for me and my time. I want you to know, I am still here and will be posting more, and getting back to sending emails soon! Thanks for sticking with me!

Bring your CSM and join us for the November So Cal Crank In this Saturday in Redlands at Hands on Knitting Center and there is still room and we'd love to have you!

The shop's newest partner, Rikki, has a CSM, too, and the two of us will be hosting a fun-filled few hours of cranking! It's happening this Saturday, November 4th, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Hands on Knitting Center. The beautiful yarn shop is just off the 10 Freeway in Redlands, just over an hour (with light traffic) outside of Los Angeles. I know there are people all over Southern California who have and use these machines and that's why I'm scheduling these meetups in different areas.

We still have plenty of space so if you want to come, you'll find all the details and sign up information. here:

Hand-Dyes Yarns were the specialty of the Yarnover Truck, so I spent ten years selling and working with these beautiful hand-dyed skeins. I know these yarns can sometimes be intimidating, but through the years, I have learned a lot, and I'm sharing what I've learned.

I'm working on a series of blog posts to help you feel more confident when Creating with Hand-Dyed Yarns. In the first post, I help you to understand the terms and names of the different hand-dyed yarn techniques. I cover machine dyes, semi-solids, tonals, variegated, speckled, gradients and self-stripping.

You can find the blog post by visiting my website, or if you comment TERMS below, I'll send you the link to read it.

I've got big news to share today! My gal Debbie (if you're new here, Debbie was the name of the Yarnover Truck) has a new job and and a new look!

Her new job is to be a sign and advertisement for one of our favorite quilt shops, Sewing Arts Center in West LA. You won't see her out on the road; instead, she is parked on the roof of the shop's amazing new building.

I am excited and relieved about her new life. She is an older truck (a 1993 Chevrolet), and she was somewhat prone to breakdowns, as you likely remember! My relief is that my friend who bought the Truck won't have to deal with that now! I encourage you to go check out the shop and wave to Debbie! It's a great shop, and now they have a great new mascot!

I WON AT YARN CHICKEN! And I feel great about it! I'm making a longer version of my Lattice Cowl with this yummy yarn I grabbed at bukuyarns, and it's been a joy to work with!

Obviously, I still need to block it, and once I do, I'll share more pics and the yarn details ,but today I felt like shouting from the rooftops that I WON AT YARN CHICKEN!!! 😁😁
