No one is really from California. Everyone came from somewhere else to California to pursue a dream. NOVA of California is a design and manufacturing company established in 1923 by two brothers with big dreams who moved from Brooklyn to California in the 1950’s to pursue the modernist wave. Born in Chicago, our CEO, Daniel Edelist followed his dream of California living and continues that legacy.

By creating distinctive, intelligent lighting solutions, we know we can enhance our environment and the day to day experience at home and in the workplace. Peter Morelli, beloved Chief Designer from 1956 to 1990, loved his rolltop desk and stored the tools of his craft beneath the tambour rolltop.
One day, he looked at the wooden slats and had an idea. He glued split oak dowels to a flexible sheet and wrapped them around a wooden core. The Tambo Collection was born in 1962.

Today, the Tambo Floor Lamp and Tambo Arc Lamp honor that moment of inspiration with updated finishes and the same mid-century design concept. Consider the entire collection in portable and hardwired options.
