Here’s a peak at some of the furniture and decor that I’ve recently listed for sale. 🤍The time-worn painted finishes are certainly the star of the show. Comment of PM for pricing.

Three more painted pieces listed for sale-two I refinished and one I’m selling in the condition it was found. Can you tell which one is not my work?

Around here, a “furniture migration” usually means one piece moves…and then five other things have to move along with it. 😂

Apparently, we also have rug migrations.

I keep going back and forth between these two very different looks in my dining room.

The first is an older wool Aubusson-style rug with all the things I normally gravitate toward like rich color, beautiful detail, real wool, and that wonderful sense of age and history.

The second is newer and much more washed out. It doesn’t have the same history or richness, but there’s something to be said for what it does to the room. It quiets everything down, lets the furniture stand out, and makes the whole space feel lighter and larger.

So this is my decorating dilemma: is it worth giving up some of the richness, history and real materials for the simplicity of the lighter look?

I know which way I think I’m leaning, but I’m curious what you see.

Which would you choose?

I tend to pick up pieces that have been personalized by their owners over the years, and this trio of vintage milk cans caught my eye for exactly that reason. Two have been hand painted with grapevines, fruit and florals, while the third has the prettiest old green patina.
I think the three grouped together make such a charming, collected statement, but after giving them a few months to find their person, I’m ready to reclaim the space. 😂
Priced to move at $100 for all three.

Je vous présente: the curly maple princess dresser that was meticulously de-mapled 🤣 I went for the timeworn European vibe with all the layers of paint, distressed wood, and patina. I added some castor wheels too to give her a tad more height. Thoughts on the final product?

I probably should have walked right past this curly maple princess dresser, but I just couldn't leave it behind.

The veneer was simply too far gone to save, so I ended up removing every damaged layer (including the underlying poplar) from all but one drawer. Definitely not the quick makeover I had imagined!

After many hours of scraping, sanding, and second-guessing myself, she's finally beginning to reveal a completely different personality.

I'm getting close to the finish line, and I'm loving the direction this rustic transformation is taking.

Primitive pieces, primitive construction. These pine boards, the soft yellow, the hand cut dove tails, hand forged square nails, wide planks, and tongue and groove joints all speak to it being a true 19th century piece. This piece is ready to bring history, warmth, and architectural presence into your home 💛

I’ve been on the lookout for a cabinet if this scale and age for quite some time and absolutely could not believe when I won it at auction (I thought it would easily climb into the thousands). Now, I did overpay on some other items to balance it out (for future reference “choice” means you get to pick the one you want for the price you bid and when the auctioneer asks if you want them both, you have to say “no,” even if you do because he’s not actually asking if you want them, he’s asking if you want to pay that price times two-or in my case, times 7.) 🤣

I do a lot of staging on pieces that are for sale (or coming up for sale) and this antique pine jelly cabinet works beautifully for my collected European vibe. Just look at how well this piece photographs! It’s the perfect compliment to the French tapestry, gilded mirror, and hand-painted cheese box.
