It’s been a tough few days…never fun seeing your art in a trash pile 🙁😢😭

(One of the shipping containers our household items have been stored in for the past almost 3 years ended up with a leak and everything molded…I’m severaly allergic to mold so very few things are salvageable and I can’t risk bringing anything contaminated into the new house. Each box has to be sorted through, items cleaned if they can be, everything has to be aired out, washed, and either thrown away, donated or taken inside once cleaned up). It’s been a difficult process. The art and several boxes of photos and momentous were never meant to be stored outside but were accidentally placed in there and left all this time).

I’m trying to stay positive and keep an open mind about clearing out clutter and making space for new more advanced work but it still hurts my heart to see so much of my soul gone along with hundreds of dollars of brand new canvases and other craft/art supplies. I’m only about a third of the way though the boxes and haven’t even started on holiday decorations yet.

Well, it’s been a hot minute (or two) since I’ve posted on my biz page with any updates or happenings.
I’m doing my best to get back in the swing of things after spending the past few months buckling down and getting my husband and I moved into our new home. My seasonal work obligation is already completed (early! Yay) and I now have time to get settled, start unpacking and organizing our things that have been in storage for almost 3 years! (Yikes!) and setting up my work and creative spaces! I have had a few unexpected commission pieces come across my calendar so I’ve decided to delay opening up the “studio” for public classes and spend some much needed down time orienting myself and our new life. I’m so excited to have the chance to decorate and enjoy the holidays back in my own home and plan a calendar and schedule for all the things I’d like to start next year! My plan is to start posting more content consistently and showing everyone what I’m up to every day so follow along for the journey as we settle in!

Two of my recent banner projects:

My youngest grandson calls all snacks “CooCoos” so I designed a banner for our snack area in honor of him. Perfect way to commemorate this time in his life and celebrate his 3rd birthday.
I also loved the idea of the ice cream freezer that was popular at all the graduation parties this year and since we have 3 kids with summer birthdays this was a no brainer and was a huge hit! Everyone loved the fridge and freezer full of self serve drinks and ice cream!

Making some super cute cupcake toppers tonight for our “Grand” birthday celebration this weekend! Three grandsons and their favorite things-Mason (3yrs July 6) loves things that go and Disney, Wyatt (9 yrs July 4) is our little gamer, and Draven (9yrs June 23) loves sea life. So ChatGPT helped me whip up some fun animated versions of each grandson and their birthday theme, I did some quick editing in procreate, printed tiny versions then laminated them and hot glued picks on for our cupcake toppers. So fun! I can’t wait to make their birthday banners and start decorating our house for this. We haven’t hosted a birthday party in a few years and I miss doing this for our grandkids. Busy week ahead doing all the things!

The Carousel Canvas has had quite the successful week!!! For the past few months I’ve had the honor of designing and constructing a special new “roommate” for our dear friend Ella and I made the trip to College Station this week to be sure I could help Ella and Elpheba become “Popular” with the judges…their magic together paid off and Ella was crowned the new 2025-2026 Texas State Cinderella Teen.
Also, I ran into one of my little artist protégés and favorite clients and had the chance to take a pic with her while wearing her lucky hand painted overalls! Congrats Meridan on your new title! 2025-2026 Texas State Cinderella Minature Miss!
I’ll see you both next month in Dallas for Internationals! 💙💙
