We posted this last year, but it was such a fun find, we wanted to share it again!

Before we had a warehouse to clean, repair, and dry rugs, our grandfather used what he had--a backyard and a swingset!

Check out this 8mm video footage from the 1950s. Our dad and aunt are playing in the backyard with their mom surrounded by rugs drying on the swingset and racks.

Step back in time to 1982 when Shaheen's expanded to Belden Village in the Promonade Center! 🕰️ Remember the mirror ceiling, sunken children's play area, red round desk, and waterfall carpet samples? 🤔 Over the 20 years we were at this location, the carpet moved into its own room with an expansion project allowing more space for piles of rugs and other flooring. On May 5, we officially turned 125 years old!

All month as we get setup at our new location, we will be posting fun photos and stories of our 125 year history. Stay tuned for some blasts from the past!

Here is our Jiddo (grandfather) Nick’s first storefront in Indianapolis in the mid-1920s. Before this location, he spent his days driving around the Midwest and east cost buying, selling, and trading handmade Oriental rugs and linen in each city he stopped in.

It’s happening! Thursday is our last day at our current location. The one our parents built. The one where we spent most of our lives. It’s emotional to say goodbye, but since we are taking it back to our roots, it’s also comforting and incredibly special.
To all of the family who got us where we are today, thank you. To the community for supporting us all of these years, thank you.
Now, get ready for the next chapter of Shaheens!

The secret is out! We are moving! We are going back to our roots. Next month you can find us at 1338 Cleveland Ave NW in Canton! We are so excited to be going back to the place our grandfather built and just in time for our 125th Anniversary! More details to come, so stay tuned!
