đ¨ Windy day in Ohio?
If your shingles decided to go parasailing without your permission, donât panic â especially if theyâre 3âtab and youâre insured.
Hereâs the play-by-play:
1. File a claim with your insurance. (Yes, even if youâre still chasing shingles across the yard.)
2. Theyâll assign an adjuster, who will send an inspector to take a look and nod thoughtfully at your roof.
3. Prepare yourself for the traditional low-ball offer, something like: âHereâs $571 for your $23,000 roof. Youâre welcome.â Donât worry â this is part of the dance.
4. Ask for a brittle test and the ITEL report showing where matching shingles can be found. Spoiler: they usually canât.
5. If the shingles canât be repaired with a matching product, the insurance company typically replaces the whole roof, and you just pay your deductible.
6. And yes â there are roofing companies out there who will replace your roof for whatever the insurance pays, and the really good ones will even waive your deductible, meaning your out-of-pocket cost is a beautiful, round $0.
If you want more info, need referrals, or just want to talk through your roofâs midlife crisis, give me a call.
We are not a roofing company. Windows are our thing. I just want to help.
