Regrets, and No Regrets…

We made a lot of mistakes when we were building this house, and we did a few things right. I’m gearing up for a few fixes this season and as I do, I’m looking around and focusing on some of the things that have stood the test of time. That, after twenty years, I still love.
So tonight, I’m sharing my entryway transoms.

We wanted an open-ish floorplan so the rooms and wide hallways would flow but as we were building it was feeling almost too open.

I decided that the entry hall needed quiet boundaries.
It started with the vintage one over our library entry-I bought it years before we built, hoping to incorporate it when we did. Once we installed it I loved the twinkle the leaded glass brought to the entry so I wanted to finish all the surrounding openings with something similar.

I measured and drew sketches and had a local stained glass artist make the new leaded windows for me. I worked with my carpenter to install and build out the trimwork.

I love, to this day, that they created instant intimacy for each area (almost like a whisper!) and they allow all the natural light to flow through the rooms.
They brought so much personality into our entry hall!

Over the next few posts, I’ll share some more things that we did and still love✨

February, so far…

Winter light, lots of time looking out the (dirty) windows, and a few, subtle nods to Valentine’s Day.

I love hearts, my mom was a Valentine’s baby, every year I gave her a heart of some sort.
Happy Valentine’s Day!❤️

Summer is My Season…

Swipe for perspective. Same spot in summer and as it looks today- we got over a foot of snow last weekend with more on the way, single digit temps and the wind is nuking. Yep, I’m a summer girl.
Which is your season?

Random Christmas Moments…

It was just that kind of Christmas. A little chaotic, Sparrow always underfoot-he is such a good boy, once he realized the trees weren’t for him to chew or p*e on-he was fine.

We all came back from Europe sick, but rallied nonetheless.
And we had a relaxing, peaceful holiday. Lots of glowy sunsets and cookies.
Hope you all found time to celebrate with your loved ones!
Wishing you peace and joy in the new year.❤️💚✨

All is calm…Merry Christmas!✨❤️💚

We lost a legend in the Design Community.

My biggest source of inspiration, a great friend and the most positive and kind person.
Matthew Mead.

Matthew came to shoot my house for his new magazine in 2016. While he was here, we shared so many creative thoughts and ideas and he got me on to instagram that day-together we decided to call my account Old Silver Shed in honor of the shed I dreamed about but never got around to building.

Our friendship grew over the years, we collaborated and worked on so many fun projects together, whatever Matthew touched became magical. I was honored to be included in his circle.

Tonight, there is a new star in the sky, I will always look up to you Matthew Mead.✨
