So, I’ve been extra quiet online lately and I’m finally ready to share an update. I’m doing OK now, but had unexpected emergency surgery last month to remove my gallbladder. I’m still limited in lifting and doing many things like cutting fabric, etc. The hardest part has probably been that I can’t pick up either one of the boys right now. We all ended up sick on the couch last week, too. Go figure!

I’m finally feeling well enough to get back to my computer work station to make some edits on a couple of upcoming releases and do a lot of the behind the scenes work that keeps Jaybird Quilts & Lazy Girl Designs humming. On that note, the deadline for shops to order the Gravity Block of the Month kits is TODAY so get those preorders in ASAP if you want to sew Gravity with me in 2025. And we’re putting the game plan together for the Cuppa Tea Sew Along for this fall. More details will land in your inbox soon.

Thank you for your patience as I’ve been recovering! I’m glad to have had the chance to heal well, and continue to each day.

Halloween will be here before we know it! I just made these Sweetpea Pods to fill with candies for my kiddos. They turned out so cute that now I want to make more so I have some for myself too. The Hershey fabric is current & by . The M&M fabric is 20+ years old and from my stash.

Fun fact, the Sweetpea Pods pattern is one of my favorite patterns. When I was pregnant in 2018 I made over 40 of them using the scraps from Nathan’s quilts. I gave them as gifts at my baby shower & still get excited when I see them in use.

Our June Sew Along is going to be Perfect Pouches & we have some exciting news to share. The patterns has been updated to include full color photos and diagrams! The original pattern was great and dates back 25 years to 1998. Back then all patterns were black and white. We brought Perfect Pouches into the 21st century and gave her a facelift.

Ask your local shops to order the new & improved version of Perfect Pouches.

If you already own the original, don’t fret. The directions have not changed & you’ll be in great shape for the June Sew Along.
