Serve's up.

The ping pong table set the color story for this whole room, so I pulled its blue into the pillows and let the watercolor mural carry it across the wall. The brass fixture keeps the ceiling from going quiet, the beams warm the whole thing up, and the sectional is deep enough that whoever loses can sulk in comfort. 😜

Understated.

The two ottomans live under the console until somebody needs them, which is my favorite kind of seating. It doesn't take up the room until it has to. The art keeps the palette quiet and the anthurium supplies the pop. Every object on that surface sits at a different height on purpose. Flat styling reads as a display. Varied styling reads as a home.

Soak it in.

The tub gets its own wall here, well away from the vanity traffic. That's the whole point of a soaking tub. Nobody walks past you while you're in it. The warm textured wall wraps the alcove, the woven shade filters the light instead of blocking it, and the beaded fixture overhead keeps the ceiling in the conversation. Every surface in this room is soft to the eye on purpose. A nervous system reads texture long before it reads square footage.

Green light.

Homework goes better when the room isn't working against you. We built the desk into the wall so it takes up zero floor space, and left the surface clear enough that starting doesn't feel like a project of its own. Nine years as a counselor taught me that resistance shows up before the task does, so I design to lower it. The snack station around the corner doesn't hurt either. 😉

Glass act.

I picked glass mosaic for this bar because it does something no flat surface can. It catches whatever light is in the room and hands it back, so the whole nook shifts a little depending on the hour and who’s standing in it. That movement is the point. A bar is where people loosen up and settle in, and I want the space to feel as alive as the conversation happening in it.
