FLOWER. FACT. FRIDAY!
Did you know that flowers can talk to each other?!?

Flowers and other plants can communicate with each other through the air and soil to warn each other about pest pressure & disease; who knew! The more I learn, the more amazing nature becomes.

Meet Salpiglossus… She’s a new-to-me flower with a terrible name. 😳

I absolutely love the vibrant colors! They’re related to petunias and last well over a week in an arrangement. I loved using these in Tuesday’s bouquets!

One of my favorite things is sharing blessing bouquets & I don’t talk about it enough!

The bouquets pictured were left over from a 7th grade moms bouquet workshop & I had the joy of sharing the extra flowers with all of the 7th grade teachers 💕

But that is just the start:
- One bouquet was given to a new mom who just happened to be out on her first walk with her newborn
- Another went to a subscriber who brought it to her husband who was in the hospital at the time
- There is a neighborhood security guard who lights up each time I bring him a mini-bouquet
- There’s also the receptionist that I’ll occasionally bring a bouquet for who told me that I always seem to know when she needs a pick me up

I am so grateful to be able to share joy with these and so many others. Thank YOU for helping make it possible!

FLOWER FACT. FRIDAY
At a recent bouquet workshop I was asked how I decide which flowers to grow. Since I grow the flowers in my backyard, space is my biggest limitation. That means I grow almost exclusively “cut and come again” flowers.

These are flowers like ranunculus and zinnias where the more flowers you pick, the more flowers they produce. 🎉

Other flowers like tulips, stock, and most varieties of specialty sunflowers, only make one flower per plant. While I do grow these, it’s very limited quantities and at specific times of the year. Because these plants take up space for several months (while they’re growing), it “costs” more for me to grow them so I have to be careful!
