Here is one project I started making a plan for this evening.

This chair is truly unique:

Antique Milwaukee Chair Co. Adjustable Architect’s Drafting Stool, circa 1900–1920. Features an original cast-iron screw-adjustment mechanism, solid hardwood seat, bentwood footrest, and four splayed legs. A classic piece of early industrial office furniture used by architects, engineers, and draftsmen.

I will do more of a conservation to it. I need to repair the seat itself, which I have epoxy for, fix some cracks and refresh the stain and finish and general upkeep

This one will turn out great!!

Two quick projects:

A cleaning and polishing of a Thonet Bentwood cane rocking chair…. The chair is in nice shape besides a hole in the cane(future repair). I was able to fix some stain issues and a couple rounds of wax, and polishing off old paint and scuffs.

Second… a quick repair and finish of a decorative shelf.

Parlor table restore update:

Finished stripping the legs , all embellishments, etc of its original shellac(used denatured alcohol, wire brush and steel wool since it was a gentler approach than stripper) filled the one repaired crack with homemade wood filler and just a lot of general sanding (240 grit)

The original amber shellac finish was weak and failing so that didn’t take a huge amount of labor. You can see on the legs, the leg on the left still has the finish.

Hopefully this weekend I can get the table fully sanded to my liking and glued back up!

For a finish, I am going to go a bit darker for a stain, traditional shellac finish and a good wax

Next project on the books is this beautiful quarter sawn oak parlor table. It’s in pretty good condition, but kind of gross and an extremely tired and failing finish

Work done today:

Disassembly
Polished hardware
Glued and clamped a crack on the table top
Finish stripping
Some sanding
And after stripping the top, I counted four water rings. So I have oxalic acid treatments going right now to take care of those

It’s been quite a bit since I posted an actual completed project.

So far my focus this year has been reclaiming my workspace and just having been busy in my professional life.

After having my workshop rehabbed about 75% and selling off my hoard, we finished up a small project that’s been sitting since the fall.

This humble little gun cabinet got completely rehabbed. Purchased out of Hamburg, Iowa…. It had:

Repairs made to the case itself
Cleaned up/replaced some hardware
Built shelves
Painted it with Nuvo cabinet paint
Wallpapered the back for a fun, Boho flair
Nourished the drawer with Howard’s Feed n Wax

It’s already been sent off to its new home.

I have quite a few projects lined up that I’m excited for! So stay tuned!

Nice set of vintage Akai SW-35 speakers made in Japan, from the 1970s. These are part of Akai’s “Jet Stream System” lineup and feature the clean silver and walnut-look cabinet styling that fits perfectly with vintage stereo setups.

I bought these from their original owner who purchased them in Japan on his way back from serving in the Vietnam war.

Specs:

* Model: Akai SW-35
* 8 Ohm impedance
* 15 watt input
* Made in Japan
* Full-range speaker design
* Fostex-manufactured drivers

These speakers are in very nice cosmetic condition overall and present extremely well for their age. I would rate them a solid 9/10 condition. One cabinet has a small corner knock/chip as shown in the photos, but otherwise they are very clean.

Great addition for:

* Vintage hi-fi setups
* Mid-century audio collections
* Garage, office, or listening room systems
* Akai collectors

Selling as a complete set of 4.

Been spending the last few weeks finishing and bettering my shop. I sold off most of my inventory (hoard, really) and am a couple weeks out of stepping back into furniture. My focus will be true antique restoration and repair, furniture repair and audio. But really, I’ll work on anything 🙂 I did procure my first for the year project… this Victorian oak parlor table with hand turned legs, hand carved apron and those beautiful brass ball and claw feet with glass balls. I can’t wait to dig into this one

Project Piece for sale!

Art Deco Waterfall Vanity – 1930s – Original Mirror – 74” Tall

Absolutely stunning original Art Deco waterfall vanity from the 1930s featuring dramatic bookmatched veneer, geometric carved details, and its original mirror.

This piece showcases everything you want in true Deco design — rounded waterfall edges, bold stepped base, decorative pulls, and a beautiful mosaic tile accent beneath the mirror. The veneer patterning is especially striking on the sides and center panels.

It measures:
• 74” tall
• 48” wide
• 20” deep

Condition:
Structurally solid and not in bad shape overall. It does need minor repairs and a good cleaning to be fully ready for everyday use. There is some typical veneer wear consistent with age, but nothing major. A light restoration would make this an absolute showpiece.

Perfect for:
• Period-correct bedroom
• Statement entry piece
• Salon/studio decor
• Art Deco collectors
• Restoration project with strong resale potential

These larger waterfall vanities with original mirrors are getting harder to find, especially with this level of detail.
