I recently took a few weeks off from painting. I became a lil obsessed with making the perfect buttercream frosting. I felt a bit guilty, I had been in a bit of a painting rut though. Yesterday when I picked back up the paint brush, I worried that the rut would continue- but instead this painting started pouring out of me. It’s not done yet, but I’m very excited about it. I realize now that when I get stuck or feel uninspired, doing a completely different thing can be amazing! Any creative pursuit- for me it was baking, I also started learning how to pipe the ridiculously yummy cupcake frosting piles that you see online. I even did two tone frosting- sorry no pic, we ate other too fast! I did include a few pics though- the first are vanilla cupcakes with fresh orange buttercream. The second pic is of tiramisu cupcakes (sooo good- my faves). Btw, I discovered that Swiss meringue buttercream is my favorite- American buttercream is good, but the powder sugar gets gritty sometimes. Swiss buttercream is a little less sweet, but totally smooth and delicious!
