We're always looking for ways to maintain our sustainable focus, especially when clients ask for things we don't have in our inventory. Recently we've had a couple asking for taper candles.

My aunt collected old rolling pins when I was a kid. I remember sitting on her kitchen floor pulling them all out of this same crock, delighted by their different tones of wood & textures. She recently downsized, tried to sell them in a garage sale, so I snapped them up (these shown + a whole bin-full!). The bin has been living in my attic, & after crawling up there & seeing them again recently, an idea started to wiggle into my brain: could we transform these beauties into taper holders?

My Dad & eldest hopped on board, and here's how they came out!! I'm so proud of us!! I love how they are all unique yet cohesive. I love that they remind me of my aunt who is one who's always inspired me in all kinds of creative ways. I love that I got to create these with my Dad & my kid, & they didn't even question my crazy. And I love that we could use something that we had & not buy new. Tho we did buy glass hurricanes - safety first!!

We added a couple of the slightly less gorgeous spools from my friend to get us more numbers, leaving the pretty ones for my mantle. Or at least I think they're spools? Anybody know?

It's bus driver appreciation week, so the youngest decided he wanted to pick some flowers from the yard for our amazing driver. Decided to try out the new from - a home compostable, sustainable alternative to a plastic water tube. And I kinda LOVE it! Filled it with a little water, followed the 8 year old as he picked flowers, he put them in the filled sleeve, then as he held it for me, I tied the two strips at the top in a knot, added a cute purple scrap of ribbon, and away we went.

She looked delighted as he gave this to her, and I'm delighted that this simple moment of gratitude for this incredible woman who keeps my kid safe every day, was easy enough for my kid to do.

Bring yourself to your flowers too! Flowers for your event can be as individual as you are! This bride has a thing for handbags, found this adorable basket handbag, and we filled it with gorgeous blooms for her maid of honor to carry.

I love having everything about your event reflect you and yours - whatever I can do with flowers to support that, I'm in!
