Wooowee! How are you all doing in this heat?! ☀️😂

I’m grateful for every last bit of summer we get here at the lake, but I have to admit… when it gets THIS hot, it sure makes me look forward to those cool, misty mornings that are right around the corner.

I took this picture of my granddog, Arta, sitting on the dock watching the mist rise off the water, and I loved it so much I had to have it enlarged and framed. If you know me, you know how much I love my granddog, so getting to incorporate a photo I took of her into our home makes this little corner even more special to me.

I love decorating with things that actually mean something. A beautiful home doesn’t have to be filled with expensive artwork or perfectly coordinated pieces—sometimes your favorite photograph and a few simple finds are all you need.

And I have to say, I love these woven lamps on either side! They add just the right amount of texture and warmth without taking away from the picture.

It may be hot this week, but I’m actually looking forward to the rain coming this weekend! 🌧️🤍

Instead of being disappointed about weekend plans getting rained out, I’m already thinking about cozying up here with a good movie and watching the storm roll across the lake.

You may remember this little corner from our sunroom tour. I had finally convinced my husband to let me put a TV out here 😂, but I did not want a big TV stand blocking those beautiful windows and our lake view.

Then I found this corner TV stand on Amazon, and it was the perfect solution!

It tucks right into the corner, gives us plenty of hidden storage, holds our TV without taking over the room—and my favorite part is the built-in electric fireplace. 🔥 It even puts out heat, so once those chilly fall evenings arrive, I know we’ll be using it all the time.

There’s just something about watching a storm come across the lake while you’re curled up with a movie and a little fire glowing beside you. Maybe a rainy weekend isn’t so bad after all!

Having a house full of guests is wonderful… but keeping everyone organized can be another story! 😂

Today I’m taking you back into our Frog Room, but this time we’re going inside the closet to show you a few simple things I’ve done to make having guests at the lake so much easier.

I keep fresh sheets and matching towels ready for each room, shower caddies filled with a few essentials they may have forgotten, extra hangers, hooks for both lake and bath towels, and a spot for suitcases so everything has a home.

And my favorite little trick? A fresh set of sheets waiting in the closet! Before our guests leave, they strip the bed and put the clean set right back on. Genius! 😂 It saves me so much work when we have a house full of people.

I’m also slowly collecting those yummy robes and antique luggage racks for each room as I find them. You know me—I’d rather take my time and find the perfect pieces than buy everything at once.

Just a few simple ideas that make guests feel at home, keep the bedrooms organized, and make hosting a whole lot easier!

Good morning everyone back home from vacation but wanted to share with you the doors and homes of Charleston. What a short drive if you live in North Carolina to visit Charleston SC. You can spend a whole day just walking the streets of the old Charleston area just looking at the gorgeous old homes, the beautiful doors and the extravagant window boxes. It’s so peaceful and the food is fabulous. Check out just a few of my favorites and get some ideas of ways to fall in love with your front door.

If you love watching your backyard birds, this is worth every penny! 🐦🤍

The final stop on our Lake House Tour... but this room is far from finished! 🌿

Welcome into our master bedroom! We're slowly bringing this space together with soft sage green, simple pieces we love, and—of course—that beautiful lake view right from our bed.

I still haven't found the perfect bedding (the hunt continues! 😂), and there are plenty of finishing touches to come. That's really how I love to decorate: use what you have, take your time, and wait until you find the perfect piece at a price that makes sense.

As we head toward retirement, creating a beautiful home affordably is more important to us than ever. I want to show you that you can have a home you absolutely love without spending a fortune.

What if you could see every bird that visits your feeder—even when you're not watching? 🐦👀

This COOLFLY camera bird feeder is truly one of my favorite things at the lake house! It alerts me when a bird arrives, lets me watch them live, saves videos, and the free app even identifies the different birds that visit. I get anywhere from 40–100 visits a day, starting with my cardinal who shows up almost every morning around 6:30.
