Solid pistachio. Desert-cured, sun-fired, one of one.

This wood started its life in an orchard just outside Exeter, California. Around 2021 the orchard died and the trees were being ripped out and burned. A woodworker out of central Arizona couldn’t stand watching good wood go to ash, so he hauled the logs across the desert to save them. They’ve been drying ever since — close to five years now. This pedestal came from one of the very last logs off that orchard.

Then it spent its finishing days baking in the Arizona sun. That’s what pulls the deep reds and burgundy up out of the grain — no stain, no dye, just heat and time. Sanded to 400 grit and sealed with a wipe-on poly for a soft satin glow.

Look close and you’ll see it: bullseye rings, black lightning cracks, cream-and-rust sapwood that swirls like smoke. Pistachio is orchard wood — rare in this size, and no two blocks ever land the same.

Stands 23” tall, 4.75” square, a hefty 19+ lbs of dense hardwood. Heavy enough to anchor a corner, a hearth, an entryway. Drop a bud vase on top (like the pic), a trailing plant, a candle, a sculpture — or let it stand as the sculpture.

🌳 **Arizona Pistachio — Saved for a Second Life**

Every one of these started as a pistachio tree that had reached the end of its run in an Arizona orchard. Instead of getting chipped or burned, it came here to become something you'll set on the table for years.

Pistachio is one of the most beautiful woods this state grows, and you almost never see it for sale — orchard wood rarely makes it out alive. Look close and you'll catch the story in the grain: that line where the color and figure suddenly shift? That's the **graft union** — the spot where the fruiting female was grafted onto the rootstock. Two trees living as one, and you can see exactly where they met. No two boards have that line in the same place.

These are finished as **serving trays and charcuterie boards** — some left pure pistachio, some with a vein of crushed turquoise running through the natural cracks. Live edges, real character, food-safe finish.

Built from a tree that was done growing. Ready to start working again. 🧀🍇
