đź’” Holiday Market Update

After giving this a lot of thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Holiday Market.

Our community has grown so much, and with all of the wonderful markets and shows now happening around Casper, we just haven’t had the vendor interest we need to make this year’s market what I want it to be.

And if I’m being completely honest, this year has also brought a lot of change and a lot to juggle personally. I lost my mom, we’ve had two kids in high school sports, we took on restaurant ownership, and I’m continuing to build my real estate business. ❤️ It has been a full year in more ways than one.

I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, especially to those who were looking forward to the market or had already made plans to participate. That is never an easy decision to make.

Most of all, I want to say thank you to every vendor, shopper, supporter, and friend who has helped make this market so special over the years. The maker community we’ve built means more to me than you know. ❤️

I’m hopeful that this is just a “see you next year” rather than a goodbye. I would love to bring the Holiday Market back when the timing is right and give it the energy and attention it deserves.

Thank you for understanding, for supporting local, and for always showing up for this little market of ours. 🎄❤️

Here’s hoping we’ll see you all again next year!

The kid in the cartoon had his first job before he could get a driver's license. I did too.

I was not waiting on someone to hand me a schedule. I knocked on doors in the neighborhood and asked if they had odd jobs. A few said yes.

That turned into cutting grass, week after week, for cash I could count at the kitchen table.

At 15 I wanted a real summer job. The convalescent home wanted someone older, so I lied about my age and washed dishes. The work sucked, I did it anyway.

I have always worked for what I wanted. A bike. A car. Rent. Nobody owed me those things, and I did not expect them to. Work was the deal. You show up, you do the job, you get paid.

My parents did not have a program for me. They had a rule. If you want it, earn it.

That rule still works. It worked on a lawn mower and it worked over a sink full of dishes. It works in a grocery aisle.

The adults who refuse the same deal are not short on opportunity. They are short on the habit.

That is why I struggle with grown adults who refuse to work and still expect handouts.

A teenager stocking soup cans gets it. A man who can work, and will not, does not get to send the bill to the people who do.

Food stamps, rent help, cash aid, those programs were sold as a bridge. A lot of them turned into a lifestyle.

I am not talking about the widow, the disabled, or the person who just got laid off and is looking for work.

I am talking about the able-bodied adult who will not take the dish job, the stock job, or the lawn job, because the check shows up anyway.

The cartoon is not mean. It is a memory a lot of us share. First job before a license. Money you earned. Pride that came with it. I do not understand the refusal. I never have.

If you had a job before you could drive, what was it?
