Some nights I walk into my kitchen and just stand there. 🖤

I love my husband. I love our life. But there is something about managing a whole household, coexisting with another human being, and showing up for Ava every single day — really showing up, the way Down syndrome motherhood asks you to show up, present and patient and all the way in — that adds up quietly until one night you are standing in your kitchen wondering when you last did something that was only for you.

Tonight I stopped wondering and just did it.

Lavender Noir candle lit first. Always first. Then I mixed my Lavender Noir concentrated mop soap — phthalate-free and plant-based — into a bucket of boiling water and I let those fifteen minutes be entirely mine.

No rushing. No skipping steps. Just me, my floors, and the only quiet I was going to get today.
